Hi,
I have two new O2 sensors for my V8 & was wondering what the procedure is?
Can I simply fit them or do I need to do something to the computer settings as well so it starts "learning"?

Disconnect the Battery while fitting them
then the computer defaults will be reset when your finished the job
the plugs above the exhaust warrant this being done while motor is cold
they slide out of the brackets towards the rear of the car.
this gives you a small amount of free cable to get your hands around the plugs to undo them
also check the plugs and sockets on old and new are the same before going too far
the new ones i fitted had the opposite to what was original so needed new plugs fitted.15/16th" ring spanner to undo out of pipe be sure to get it fitting nicely as they can be very!! tight to undo.
when finished allow to idle until warmed up so the ECU can get used to the new ones.
hopefully this helps
Cheers

Thanks Paul! That's awesome!
I had a vague feeling that I needed a Nanocom to reset something, but if it's this easy (famous last words?), great!

Good advice there. All i'll say is the "being tight" comment is a understatement.
Be preparedand drench with crc/wd40 24 hours in advance!

Dont forget to fit new ones with the special grease that should come with them to stop them seizing in there.

Disconnecting the battery will not clear any stored codes for faults, so they will still be there if some one does a diagnosis.
Also if your entertainment system has codes, then make sure you have them before you disconnect the battery as you might need to reprogram the radio.

You can buy a "special" socket to get them out from super cheap if they are to tight.Don't forget to remove the socket after you have replaced them,

Anybody in Darwin got a Nanocom & can clear the codes for me? Happy to pay you to do it for me! :)
I have the card with the radio codes.

I have a msv2 which is locked to my vin so no help,The stored codes will not effect the new sensors just remember in the future that any stared faults will possibly be from before you replaced sensors. The computer will sense the new sensors and adjust the mixtures etc.It is always a good idea to disconect the battery when playing with plugs etc.

Thanks mate.
I'm actually thinking I might be best to get this task done by the pro's. Any suggestions for somebody good who's local?
