Hi guys, I'm playing around with a 1997 300 TDI 110 Defender and want to put one of these Raptor console dash's in, I've studied their website and the pictures of this unit and watched Bretts youtube installation guide a number of times trying to figure out if this installation means modifying the under dash A/C unit, or even removing it, does anyone here know for sure what the go is????
The other thing is it looks like it reduces the aperture for air to come through the drivers side front vent flap, can the flap still be operated when the Raptor dash console is fitted?? Any info greatly appreciated. Kanga.

One of the forum members (jitterbug) has a post on a raptor dash install..

http://www.aulro.com/afvb/projects-tutorials/144246-raptor-dash-install.html

N.b: install is on a very early model 90 (no air con).
He has a few pics on the post about the install that might make it a bit clearer for you to check against your vehicle for aircon clearance..

I have a mud stuff dash in one of my 90's and will be one day changing it for a raptor dash, both mud and raptor dashes still allow for the vents to be used however airflow is restricted a bit.....

They dont require modification of the air con. From what I remember you just cannot add the extra undertray.
Also not sure how you will get one as they would not sell direct to Australia as they had an agent out here. The agent could not supply the complete unit as I wanted so gave up. Poor business practice.

No problems with Raptor, they are very good to deal with, helpful too. The dash and Pod are ordered and paid for hopefully the Post Office don't kick it all the way here ;) Kanga.

Good, stuff. It has been a little while since I tried. At the time the only reply I got was to purchase via their Australian agent, who I wont name. The agent here could not supply in the configuration I wanted so gave up. I will try again when I have the spare funds.

Hi All,

Been a while since I've posted.

I fitted a Raptor dash to my 2001 TD5 110. A lot of work.

I couldn't put the little pocket on as it wouldn't clear the gear stick. I understand that on earlier models there is less modifications and it doesn't interfere with the below dash air.

On the TD5 I had to modify the Raptor module quite a bit to get it in. Particularly at the back to make sure it wouldn't cut (wear through) the wiring harness.

It also cramps the vent controls on both sides. Effectively you have to cut the standard plastic mold so the vent leavers are uncovered. Sounds worse than it is. "But" a lot of work on the 110 TD5.

I got their Sydney (Newcastle way) agent to start to mount was absolutely hopeless and charged like anything. I had to pull it out and start again. The only thing he got right was trimming the lower lip.

Hope this helps
