I may need help - counseling!
We travel a lot and some time ago we spotted a Series1 in a front yard near Mudgee. The long and the short, the owner is a tractor mechanic and has been collecting all sorts, mainly Series1's and parts for the last 40 years.
He invited me to view his collection, 1 x 54 complete and was running some time ago, 1 x early 2a (I think) diesel long wheelbase hard top ute complete, 2 x Series 1 part cars - quite rusty chassis and one rolling chassis R8665256. I found the tub with shovel back seats down the paddock, the firewall with tag elsewhere and a ring pull gearbox in his shed. He bought this car many years ago and isn't sure but thinks the engine is there somewhere.
Then there are the spares and parts in 3 sheds, - literally a truck load - 2 x full PTOs with drums, complete governors, working overdrive, side light, early dash, re-chromed swivels, resleeved brake parts, and a mountain of other spares and panels. That is what I managed to see in half an hour as many panels etc are strewn over a couple of acres.
As it turns out he wants to relocate. I negotiated a price for the lot and now have to pick up all and sundry. We are heading up there with 2 car trailers on Sunday and again on Monday hopefully putting a dent into it.

........and so the final descent commences,
losing all control and surrendering his will, feverishly labouring to amass his prize,
pausing for but a moment,
he glimpses an image in the smudged window of his treasure,
an odd looking man with long grey beard, bewildered yet optimistic eyes stare back at him,
With neither recognition or concern for his own reflection he toils onwards,
his sanity silently slips away without so much as whimper, having fought so many past battles and losing its share, it can no longer resist, departing with relief.
An eerie peace descends on the man and his home as the madness takes residence...........
.....outside a small boy, whom never really noticed before, regards the wreckage in the madmans yard from a distance.
One day without knowing why he will enter the trap and meet the crazy old man and learn of the fabled Land Rovers.....
and the madness will find its new host, relentlessly overpowering reason and logic, ensuring its survival.

Sounds like a interesting time sorting out parts!
I have often thought that it would be a good idea to build a great big shed, concrete floor, lined with Dexion, and dismantle/store original land rover parts in it...
I think that there is a market out there - but it does involve quite an outlay (I don't have a shed) to start it up.
Over time these parts are becoming rarer and rarer - I rekon that you could do a good trade with UK land rover tragics!

I am unsure how many there are. There are 1 pair that I know with someone's name on them and a second set in a rebuilt front end which goes with the 49 / 50 chassis, which I may rebuild. I won't know the extent of bits for a few weeks.

We went to Mudgee on Sunday morning with 3 double axle car trailers and 1 single axle small car trailers. I had checked out the parts the week before but wasn't ready for what was actually there.
We started removing parts from the sheds and the owner kept finding boxes of parts which he had forgotten about, many new or re-conditioned items, like the 3 early greased up crankshafts which were in a tub on a shelf!. This went on all day.
This was a real Land Rover spares barn find, with so many parts, let alone the 2 cars and 2 part cars. We managed to fill the 4 trailers and will require at least 2 more trips in the future.
Here is a teaser of the parts we brought back

I love the seat backs. The 2 shafts are horn button assemblies, albeit with slight damage

This is about 1/4 of the panels
Please don't request parts at this stage as we have lots of sorting to do and also have family commitments and holidays on our door step

Most mechanical items were under cover, but outside, this is what the place looked like. This is a small section.

Well that is 1 trailer loaded - a Series2 which has a stuffed firewall anyhow, with 3 additional chassis, looks heavier than they actually are. The chassis don't weigh that much

This was the second trailer loaded, a Series 2 - 2a diesel with a seized engine. This vehicle is almost complete. The rear and inside are crammed full of heavy parts. This was probably the heaviest trailer. (pic taken at our place)

Trailer 4 was reserved for panels, a gearbox and all sorts. This wasn't stacked too high as we wanted to preserve these parts, even though many are beyond repair
This was used for marshaling

To date we have emptied trailer 3 as it was needed and the panels off trailer 4
