hey all, I'm loving my new td5 but have a couple of questions.
it has egr removal which I'm happy about as it saves me having to do it. I found these two plugs tucked away under where the egr would have been. are they for the now missing egr? if so I'll just wrap and tuck them away.
mine was an eu3 egr so it had the cooler on the front of the head, now also removed. what it so there is the coolant pipe from the rear of the oil cooler, see PIC.
this has been blanked off, roughly.
where should this go?
I think from other posts it used to run round the back of the head but where then? I couldn't find another blanked off hose on the drivers side.
I don't think it's a great idea just blocking the coolant flow out of the oil cooler either so I would like to run it somewhere!
lastly, it's missing the top part of the fan shroud, will this make any difference to the cooling capacity?
cheers matt

Those are the plugs for the egr modulators which have probably been removed, tuck them away

from the oil cooler to the the egr cooler then from the egr cooler to the T near the overflow bottle, I have mine blanked off and it fine

I agree with all Duarte's statements also. Replace the fan shroud but before you do, replace your leaking cam cover (round black thing on the front of the motor) because yours is leaking. It will kill your alternator eventually if you don't. Part number is LDI100030.

Throw the o ring away that comes with the new plug and buy these Imperial Size Viton Rubber O Rings Cross Section 5 33mm Sizes BS309 BS345 | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/370942224004?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=640148036694&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) They are slightly oversized and will leak less. However it'll probably leak again in 40k so 5 rings should last you 200k :)

concur with all above.

you might also want to check out high pressure mydraulic styled orings they tend to stand up a little better or an Xring for hte camp plug.

dont forget copious quantities of rubber grease on install

Thanks all,
cam seal and better O rings will be done soon.
Does the oil cooler not benefit from having a coolant output?
the way mine is now the oil cooler is a coolant dead end with no flow. ..
I was planning to run a hose from the cooler back to header tank.

The cooler goes in and out of the block, and doesn't need the hose to the EGR.
LR changed these hoses a few times.
