...the P38A isn't the most troublesome LR? It looks like the D3/D4 has taken over so their owners can now be the ones to be pitied/laughed at.

that may only be because most of the p38's have already broken down:wasntme:

Doesn't that mean that the D2 is now the most trouble free relatively recent Land Rover .
At last! Vindication!

I'll be honest, I think the D2 is actually more troublesome than our faithfuls... Looms, amigos, ACE, etc. We just get HEVAC and EAS with the odd GEMS gremlin.
Be interested to hear more about the D3/4 issues that out-rank ours.
Cheers

Depends on the engine and driveline arrangement of your D2.
V8 coiler manual is probably as reliable as it gets, until you slip a liner or something
Ron, the first part of solving a problem is admitting you have a problem....:p

You do know that 90% of statistics are made up. Mine are based on the number of problem threads I see in the D3/D4/RRS area.

I wouldn't rate my P38 as reliable - though it's never left us stranded.
It's a 20 year old car though. .. and it feels like once I've built a new car that was made in 1995 I'll have something that is reliable. :what:

My mate's friend bought a new Commodore. Guess where it is...in the dealer's workshop with an electrical fault that no-one can find. He has had a loan car for some time now.:mad:

I suspect most problems these days are electrical.

I suspect most problems these days are electrical.
I am beginning to think that a significant number are software related.
Certainly some well publicised recalls have been for software problems.
