Hi everyone.

I have just purchased (well the bank has) a Land Rover Discovery MY15 TDV6 auto diesel, 7 seater. I absolutely love it. I travel a lot with my fishing and it just eats up the km's. On the weekend I hit a small roo which cracked the front bumber bar. I was gutted. I have looked into getting a steel bull bar but there doesn't seem to be anything out for the MY15. ARB and TJM Aren't able to help. Can anyone help with a contact that won't cost an arm and leg . I live in the Illawarra area NSW.

Also given the amount of travel I do I have been contemplating sleeping in my disco. There is pleanty of room when I lay the rear seats down. Any tips re. Curtains, fit outs etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

I'm also interested in what you find for a sleeping fitout.

The Wollongong OL is via Gateway Motors (the Holden/KIA/Mitsubishi Dealer) and whilst they are able to spin a spanner on my Holden to drain and refill the oil ... hell would freeze over before they touched my Disco ... just saying ... :wasntme:

The guys at Narellan are pretty good, they work with Macarthur Land Rover when needed and a mate with a D3 swears by them.

Of coarse there's always Gordon at Rockdale Opposite Lock, he's a Land Rover owner as well, always does a good job, well he has for us.

Sounds good Baz !

Also point out to OP that some shopping on eBay will see you get the front bumper pretty cheap (dunno if MY 15 bar is the same as earlier D4 bars but when I changed my D3 bar cost it me about $200 + a can of paint).

There have been lots of threads on different forums re discos as campers etc. Here are two over at Expedition Portal. I hope I am allowed to link to them. If not, mods please remove.

There was a change for the MY14 bar from memory, those with a MY14 D4 may be able to tell us, I'm assuming the MY15 is the same, as far as I know, the OL bar is the only bar available for MY14.

Hi Guys we have just fitted an ARB steel bull bar at Macarthur Land Rover to a customers MY15 Discovery. you do have to fit the earlier MY13 bar with some slight modification to the parking sensors if fitted and also the windscreen washers other than that they are fairly straight forward.
give us a call if you have any questions or want a quote
thanks Mat 02 4636 8888

I'm surprised you can do that - modify an ARB bar I mean. We had a big dingle recently on our MY13 with sensors and cameras and have replaced the bumper with a bar - through ARB. We went and asked ARB to drill a couple of holes for the cameras and stick a bracket on the back to attach them and they told us it would breach warranty and would get them in trouble with ADR etc etc etc etc (10,000 excuses - all after the workshop manager had a look at the camera module and said "yep - I'll just stick a bracket on the back and put some holes in it").

ARB have been really unhelpful regarding whether they would even consider doing a mod for vehicles with cameras as apparently "nobody buys them with cameras" - I know 6 other disco owners, 5 of whom have cameras ! All of whom offroad.

We now have a bar coming but the warranty will specifically say any damage to the cameras which are going to be stuck up out of the way behind the bar is entirely my liability.

I did find out (after the fact) that Opposite Lock do a bar which can accomodate the cameras so with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight (yep - looking at my own arse !) I should have gone with a bar from them - but SWSBO didn't like the look of them anyway.

It seems like they are wary of doing anything out of the ordinary (and for a smaller market like LR versus toymota)

Hi Mark well its not so much of a modification and yes that's is correct with the cameras your out of luck but with only front parking sensors. all it is some new sensor brackets and also different head lamp washers. no modification to the main bull bar is needed.
