Just spent the last weekend away and the original battery in my MY10 D4 TDV6 chose a wet weekend to give up the ghost. Oh well.
Found a Century DIN88 in 910cca and 160Rc ??
Anyway, changed it out and the D4 is happy, no alarms.
Except the key fob won't lock the car ???
Starts ok with no errors so it is reading the smart key.
Did a search but could not find anything.

Hey Mate,
So the main battery was changed in the car....as in the one that starts the car and now the fob is only working partially?
Have you tried your spare fob to see if it works?
Might be a complete coincidence and the fob battery needs changing .... for a couple of bucks I'd change that.....even if the spare doesn't work as well. I had an MY 10 and it chewed fob batteries .... well they lasted a while but I started carrying spare batteries all the time, as I'd been caught out in the middle of nowhere.
Cheers.

Scratch this thread.
Seems it is a "time to acquire" the key fob.
Went to do the elimination thing with the spare fob but now the main item works... So all good.
I did have some garlic in my pocket so maybe that scared the dark lord Lucas away :D

Similar think has just happened to me (05 D3) Camping over the weekend and left the ignition turned on:confused:, any way started the machine and al ok after a short drive, except now cannot lock the D3 with the fob. Everything else is all OK.
Thinking battery in the key fob, but have not worked out how to open the fob without damaging it.
Any suggestion???

I have done mine a couple of occasions, but it seems that there a couple of different sorts. Can you take a quick photo and upload so we can see what type it is?

In a D3 it is not a simple undertaking to replace the battery and you will need a new case, it is not possible to open it without damaging it. If you search you will find some threads on how to do it including some detailed Instructions. You will need to order a new case I think about $20 or a bit less on EBay and a new rechargable battery, again I think less than $20 on EBay. The tricky bit is opening the case without damaging the electronics inside. I used a sharp knife, other have used a dremel tool. And then desolederingand re soldering the connectors.
It is fiddly but I did successfully do it on both my keys.

After getting home, found that 2nd key fob was not working also , so decide that it was not the fob battery. After overnight think, decided to try a HARD RESET and Eureka it worked. Key fob now locking car and SWMBO now happy :D
