Unfortunately the sea is the world's dumping ground.
What ever washes down the storm water drains finds its way to the sea. Tsunamis also takeout rubbish out to see, look at the big Asian ones, whole towns dragged back into the sea. The debris just floats around the world's oceans and eventually hits land fall somewhere.

Bob, the NW area of Tasmania is supposed to have the cleanest air in the world, yet if you type TAPM into Google you will see the CSIRO's air pollution map showing where Melbourne's air pollution ends up, Regards Frank.

I've seen rubbish floating in rivers in Thailand , the Philippians , that you have to see to believe . We're also guilty for discarding rubbish , that gets washed out to sea . I suppose doco's like this help bring the message home !!..

IMHO the 5 lands beaches south of Somerset on Cape York are MILES worse than that beach.

My guess is that the prevailing currents into Torres Strait from the Pacific funnel in , and dump most on the Eastern side of Cape York.

When I was there a couple of years ago there was a pile at least a metre high all along the back of the beaches.
