For a while i have doubted that my db isolator was working but without being able to drive my car i wasnt able to confirm, today my wife drove me to work which is a 1hr return trip so now i have confirmed that its dead.
So being too late to get a replacement isolator would there be any harm in linking my main and aux. battery without an isolator and then only using the aux. to power my fridge while we are driving away for Easter ?
Once camp is setup there will be no drain on either batteries.

you wont have any hassels doing that so long as you remember to disconnect when you go stationary.
if you want a quick and dirty setup head to supercheap, grab a 100 solenoid (theyre about $30) and wire it in place of the broken DBS.
power it up off of the same wire as goes to the fuel pump.
when you get back buy a traxide unit.

Thanks Dave, Traxide is on the list which seems to get pushed back.
Cheap solenoid will do for now.

if you want a btter safer solution track down one of the circuts that run off of the VSR and tap that to control the solenoid.
I have mine wired up to a reversing relay via the oil pressure switch so that I have to have both good voltage and oil pressure for the solenoid to engage.
thats more to do with the number of ways I an charge my batteries so I dont wind up dumping low amp charge rates into the load on the aux batteries rather han putting them into the cranking battery.
the solar panel and aux battery has its own independent external charge points.
trust me, the amount of extra work it takes to setup the system to do what a traxide does, youd have to be a nutter or have a very special obscure requirement for the system before you'd step past a traxide
you need to change your sig block, delete still, append traxide next
