Have done a search and found some stuff but no help.

My rear passenger door was fine now it wont unlock, door of course is shut and can't open it.
Have tried from the inside no go the lock tag will not pull out, have given the door a few good hits with a rubber hammer all to no avail.

Independant guy quoted $230 for a new electronic unit in the door plus whatever it takes to get into it, dealer says they have never heard of it have not got a clue (to quote them) bring it in we will look then order parts.
Not likely it is my only transport.

Any help anywhere ?

Finally got the door fixed, had to take it in they got the door trim off with the door locked, not a lot of room in there !
They said the deadlock was jammed in the locked position, a small hand could get in and play with it but not unlock or open the door. Electronics were all fine.
Got a new one genuine, took them not long to change it over, but had to actually break the deadlock half of the door lock off before they could get the door open, had full instructions up on the comp.screen on what to do talked me right through it. Guy had a lot of skin off his knuckles when he had finished, easy once he had busted half the lock off.

Works fine now after total bill of $380 ! hope that is the last one.

Looking through the nett seems VW has a lot of problems with the same sort of thing

A dead deadlock. The doors are supposed to unlock if you have a serious collision. (drive away locking is not the same as deadlocking). This is to enable either an easier exit or to enable rescuers to help the occupants. It could be dangerous if a deadlock fails in the locked position. Let's hope this remains a "one off".
