There is always a silver lining, banana prawns are being caught out the front of Nudgee , people are catching the limit very quickly. Good size, as well. Flathead at the mouth of creeks & rivers are prolific. After this lot of rain, it will get even better. Should be a bumper bream season, this year. Nature, just go with the flow. L.G.! Bob

Son and daughter in law spent 3 hours stuck on the motorway in the Caboolture area last night. In the end they gave up going to Inskip and went to his sister's in Maleny instead. Forecast is more rain.

And bob when it's underwater, like any other place, the poo flows.:-D

Sewage Pumping Stations (http://www.qldwater.com.au/sewage-pumping-stations)
So, first point, no where here has been under water recently. Second point, if there are no " sewage farms" in the area, where does it come from. Thirdly, what's going on in your world , where any positive comment is attacked by such negative thoughts? I've been prawning out the front for years, no problems. Having said that, I must admit the cabbage tree creek has had some bad reports on water quality, over the years. We don't fish in the upper reaches of the creek. And the water quality is improving, each year. Sheeesh, you guys...... attack some one else, there are [plenty of other targets. Bob

Don't kid yourself. I once worked for seq water and wastewater authorities. Even most of the new sewers leak and let rainwater in during events like this, which causes the manholes to pop.
Re your other question - a long distance from the sewage plant is often worse. Every sewer system has lots of manholes and/or valves which are designed to open if the sewer fills up.

2:: Queensland Urban Utilities - Sewer Pump Station Upgrade (http://www.urbanutilities.com.au/network-upgrades/projects-current/sewer-pump-station-upgrade) Bob it's called a pumping station, (this one in your burb is having an upgrade just like another one in hall at did a few years ago)usually at the areas lowest point, as even Brighton residents effluent flows downhill, ;) and when the lowest point gets under water electric pumps usually don't like it.
3: it called having a laugh, .its like saying NSW has the best pollies money can buy, whose money is the question.
P.s certain chemicals and heavy metals build up from eating certain types of food, so take care. :D

My yard is so wet that when I went to mow the grass just out from my back steps the Victa got bogged, but by going very slowly I got it down, just so it can start to dry out,the table drain out front still has water lying in itnot flowing down the slope,so that gives me an idea as to how high the watertable is,I guess it will be a fortnight before it all drains into the farm's dam.
I was very pleased today as we have sunshine most of the day, got a load of washing dried and the yard is showing signs of drying, tomorrow I will try the rest of the yard with the Greenfield

I don't kid myself. Thanks for the advice. If you actually did work for SEQ-water, you would know that the manholes pop because residents plumb their storm water into the sewage system. Brisbane council went a long way into solving this problem by putting smoke bombs into the sewage system, those houses where smoke rose up out of the storm water vent pipes were fined. Jeeez you trolls annoy me. fair dinkum. Bob
i know nothing about sewage, what's wrong with putting stormwater into the sewage system?

It overloads the sewerage systems and treatment plants. They have an inflow design limit. Once the inflow is over capacity untreated sewage then flows into stormwater systems polluting water storage, waterways, beaches and the ocean.

And the progressive Brisbane City Council, has , over a number of years, modernised our sewage system, so this does not happen. And the rivers and creeks in our system are tested , continuously, to keep on top of any pollution . Doesn't mean they are totally on top of it, but it is much better than a few years ago. And you haters? crawl back to where you came from. Bob Meant in the nicest possible way, guys, of course.

One would hope so considering the frequency of Brisbane's inundation.

Of course the readings would be better than a few years ago, :D I mean really,it's not under water!
Unless councils and the state govt ( both Qld and Nsw )either massively enlarge the system or buyback all those old homes that are low lying, below the 1:10 or 1:25 year flood levels it will happen again. Throw in different state govt's with different agendas to the local councils and its a recipe for mess.
Locally there is a development that both councils objected to on flood concerns for established burbs, but the state govt overruled them and approved it.
The same would apply in sydney and Brisbane as higher burbs increase flow to lower lying older areas, meaning once the first x number of low lying properties loos ,or even backyard breather pipes that are open, broken or cracked go under the sewer system gets flushed, into your creek.
It's not about hating, just reality.
As evo just showed , some don't know the difference, he's smart enough to ask, others doing home reno's on the cheap themselves (as is the current trend)may not ask or care.
P.s bob post 28's quote is from Bundaberg not brisbane.;)
