Barnett Roadhouse is only another 80 kay up the road. No doubt the tyre man will relocate to there as well.
Pity the old store has though as they were nice people and it was a good place to stop for lunch etc.

Seems strange they would close something so important to the community, anyway spose they had their reasons, I'm guessing money.

Yes you couldn't anyway(even if we would like you too) especially if you only think you know, if it turns out you are wrong, the forum could be liable for all sorts of issues, so unfortunately, yes you are correct, you can't post it.

I'm sure it will come out eventually.

A Range Rover you say.......mmmmmm what type

Uh-oh. There goes your life savings :D

We are off in 3 weeks up to the Kimberly's so I'll note that down. We have a range of over 1,000Km though, so hoping that'll get us through spots like that.

I spoke to the manager quite a bit last July.

She and her husband are getting old and both had been severely injured in a helicopter crash a couple of years ago. They spent many months in hospital after the crash and the shop was closed for a while. It was the first tourist helicopter flight from the store.

They are great people who served the best coffee on the Gibb, made home made cakes, and organised an outside area with tables and umbrellas.

They also ran film nights for the locals. The shop is owned by the Iminji community who will no doubt try to find replacements, but The lady told me the people the community got when they were injured were no good, so they were asked to come back.
The fuel was cheaper than Mt Barnett, and the service was much better with no "don't care backpackers". I bought some gas there and the bloke weighed it out for me. You don't see that very often any more.
Maybe a good job for a couple if you like living in a Local community.

Regards Philip A

We were up there in 2008 not long after the helicopter crash, the couple running the place were very pleasant, young family from Melbourne. Would be an interesting lifestyle change for a year. We had a petrol vehicle that trip and they only sold diesel so had to carry fuel for Derby to Mt Barnett anyway.
Last year when we got in to Mt Barnett the freezer was empty and the shelves were almost bare, would only be worse with the Imintji store gone. Fuel's not the only thing you need up there, we went 26 days between grocery shops at one point. Fixed a bloke's Pajero at Drysdale River and his wife paid me with a tomato!
