Hi guys,

I start my D3 as usual, no issues and start to drive but the very first instance of me applying a brake, there comes a click noise. it just happens once and does not happen again when I re apply the brakes. However, if I leave the car parked for say about 2 hours, start it up and it happens again. But as I said, it just happens at one instance. Any advice as to what I need to look at.

Mine kind of does the same thing - I only notice it it certain situations.

On mine it is almost as if I feel it through the pedal rather than an audible click.

I mainly notice it after a day at work when I leave the multistorey carpark and I am on the brakes as I go down the ramp. Like you, it happens once on the first down ramp and then not again.

I noticed it a few months ago. No change since then. Had a full service since then and nothing unusual was found.

So, I am no help really, would be interested to know why it happens or we should investigate further though.

Thanks for posting.

Pat

Might be your handbrake, may be sticking and need a clean or need an adjustment.

Have to suspect the parking brake adjustment.

Thanks guys for the input. Will be organising a wheel alignment and park brake clean and adjust soon. hopefully that will fix it.

The click noise seem to come from under the front of the car, maybe just below the transmission and it happens when I apply the brakes. Anyways, had my wheels balanced, aligned and rotated. Will check under the car on the weekend.

That will be the auto gear lever thingy clicking when you put your foot on the brake, try it, sit in the car with it in park and put your foot on and off the brake.
