I'm hoping someone might be able to help me, or at least give me some direction as I'm stumped.

I replaced my fuse box a couple of weeks ago from the old barrel fuses to a new blade fuse one and all was well and everything worked.

This weekend I removed the convoy lighting switch, installed a reverse camera, and now suddenly I have:

No park brake indicator on the dash
No Diff lock indicator on the dash (assuming it works, you can hear the air being let out when you return to on-road mode. )

and most concerning - No brake lights at all (The 'driving' light when you turn the headlights on works

and only the left reverse light works.

It's not the fuses, I've tested them, and also other items that run off the two fuses in question for the brake/reverse lights (indicators on one fuse and the wipers and instruments of the other)

it's weird.

I'm wondering if there are any connections in where the wiring harness runs up under the dash beneath the box with the dimmer switch/convoy lights etc.
I did run the cables for the reverse camera through there and had to poke and prod quite a bit the get them through, maybe I knocked a cable loose in there?

I also noticed that there is a great bunch of cables looped up underneath the right rear light assembly when I put the cable for the camera in, could I have pulled something loose there?

any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks
Chris

edit to add that I did take the instrument binnacle off the replace the lights in the speedo which were blown, so there is a chance I may have pulled something loose in there as well :(

Assuming you haven't actuallt shorted anything out to blow the bulbs, I'd be looking for an earth you may have disturbed which isn't making a good connection

Thanks!
I'll double check the bulbs, but by eyeball they look fine.
Guess I'll go hunting for ground cables, wherever they may be.

I am an electrician, without looking at wiring diagrams, I suggest it is something that is common to all systems, The switch may have been switching an earth, I have a wiring diagram on my email, its hard to read but i will have a look at it for you, I have my landrover assessable to work on at the moment so i may as well help someone working on one.

Thank you!!! that's an amazing offer.
6.30am here. about to grab some breakfast and then start poking around.
I've found a wiring diagram, though it's not very readable, from the auction site. I'll print that off so I have something to work off.

Wish me luck!

When you say you removed the convoy switch, what did you do exactly?

Looking at the wiring diagram, if you were to remove the blackout switch then you would need to bridge cable 2 to 1 (N-N) and 6 to 5 (GP-GP, green/purple?) to maintain normal operation.

You're Awesome!

That's probably where I've gone wrong then. I bridged 1-2, missed 6-5 somehow. That will be first on my list of this to check.

zooming in on that diagram, it looks like the color codes are GP(6) and GO(7) which should be purple and orange.

Edit.
It's too early in the morning. 6-5, not 6-7. green/purple to green/purple.
off to give that a try now.

GP also happens to be the stop lamp ;)

so are "stop lamps" the brake lights?
odd that there are two fuses that are labelled "STOP" in the fuse box.

also, the fuse on the bottom left of the fuse box. 8A fuse with a little picture that looks like maybe a fog lamp?? but no label.
What is that?

also. Partial success^_^. brake lights now work. My (crappy less than 2 year old battery) is low enough that I can't start it to test the reverse lights.

Off to buy a charger.

Get this charger. (http://www.ctek.com/lt/en/chargers/MXS%205.0)

There should be only one fuse for stop lights that also does dash lights and wind screen wipers.

On the fuse box cover in front, there is one labelled STOP that does dash lights and windscreen wipers
and another, also labelled STOP, that does REV/STOP and indicators.

odd eh?

That's actually the charger I was planning on getting.

I think what has killed the battery in mine is that the previous owner has fitted a battery isolator which for whatever reason, drains the battery if you forget to isolate the battery when you turn the car off.

I've done it a couple of times and I'm pretty sure it was done a few times before I got it, so now it doesn't hold many AMPS.

going to wait until tomorrow to get a new battery. I can get an N70 battery direct from Isuzu for $135 (same as what they put in there trucks), or go to supercheap and pick up another one of these (http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Century-Car-Battery-4WD-Marine-N70ZZL4WD-760-CCA.aspx?pid=287259#Recommendations) which is what is in it at the moment for $230.

Just checked my fuse panel, it also has two stop light fuses. Never noticed that before! The one with the dash lights and window washer is definitely the brake lights though. Had mine pop a few times.

As for the 8A bottom left, that'll probably be the fog lights from the county loom.

EDIT: If I was to buy a new battery I would be getting a AGM, then a second later on.

Sadly can't afford one of those at the moment. They are a bit pricey!

Badco, You beat me too it, I had trouble uploading mine its 500Kb, the limit on it is 100KB for a pdf.

The drawing is the hardest thing to follow, with a low res. pdf....oh my eyes hurt...lol

BADCO YOU ROCK!!!!!!! Have one on me:beer:

Problems fixed. Reverse lights turned out to be a loose bulb,
and crossing the green/purple wires fixed the brake lights and the diff lock indicator.

Now need to find the original post where they said just to cross the brown (1 and 2) wires together.

That person will be driving around without brake lights unless they have figured it out in the meantime.

Now off for a :burnrubber:.

Thanks again.
