UHF Radio to a D3

Hi people
I did a search for this but didn't come up with anything, and the sticky about Mods has a thread but all the pictures don't work for me so I thought I would ask here.

Wanting to fit my UHF to the D3 but trying not to make any holes in the coach work. Is there a favoured position? What have others done?

I made a bracket to attach to the front from under the bonnet, and my aerial lead reaches to the firewall behind the second battery compartment, but I can't see a way through the firewall anywhere for the big end that attaches to the radio.

Thought about attaching the radio its self under the left side of the lower dash in the driver's footwell, but its all plastic there and not sure if it will take the weight. It is out of the way and the fittings would be invisible, but not sure if I'll be able to hear the onboard speaker.

I'd really appreciate pics of other's installations plus some idea of where to run the lead.

Just wondering too if there is an optimal power lead to run off that will turn the radio power off when I exit.

Re holes: I chose the IC-440 to avoid holes. I left the handset disconnected when not in use, stored in the glove box. When in use I left it sitting in the drink holder.

Firewall: In the rear of the second battery box there's a grommet into the cab. You have to be a contortionist to get to it from the cab but it can be done.

I installed the radio under the front passenger seat and ran the power and aerial cables through the grommet above.

Attached are some pics from my install of the same radio in the D4. The grommet is that same.

The unit for my UhF is behind the plastic panel to the left of the footwell it does limit the maximum volume for the onboard speaker but it is usable. He handset and control are mounted on a no drill ProClip mount on the edge of the centre console.

I put my UHF in the glove box, as it's not something I will use everyday. Not hard to access though (excuse the text on the image. Saved it from snap chat...)

I don't use the UHF radio frequently, so bought a TX 3100 pnp. No installation required...

I have a UHF with on the mic controls, the unit sits up under the dash behind the steering column. I can hear it fine, the mic/controls sits on the little rubber mat thing between the cup holders.

Thanks for the great pics WhiteD3, excellent. I will go hunting just to see how contortionist I need to be.
And thanks to you other guys for your thoughts, great to get the creative juices flowing. I have an older UHF but those little things with the controls on the hand piece are looking pretty interesting right now.

I've got a remote head GME (not the remote full control on mic jobbie). The remote head sits just on the top of the steering column, with the mic mounted up on the centre dash alongside the stereo
