I was in the Qantas Air Museum in Longreach quite recently and found a trilogy written by Sir Hudson Fysh......which I purchased.

I knew a bit about him after researching him during the lead up to The Back to Darwin Air Race in 1978.

The man was quite incredible in his exploits from his childhood , through his time with the Australian Light Horse Regiment in Gallipoli and in his contribution to establishing Qantas as a leading airline in the world.

The books were written consecutively in 1965, 1968, and 1970.

I just wish I had read them 40 years ago instead of now.

This man deserves much more recognition than he appears to have ever been given.

I commend these books to anyone with any interest in Australian history as I'm sure as you read you will know someone who is mentioned in Hudson Fysh's writings.

The books are available through the Qantas Founders Museum
PO box 737,
Longreach
Qld 4730

the books are named Qantas Rising....Qantas at War and Wings of the World.

for anyone wanting to see the real history of Australian Aviation go out to the Qantas Founders Museum at Longreach.

there is much to do there besides, once you are there.

a fabulous bush drive for landy owners from Birdsville or Windora or for those of you with aeroplanes grab a few mates and fly out there for look.

this was my 2nd visit and they are looking forward to bringing in a Constellation dressed in Qantas livery very soon.

cheers Dennis

I have owned the first two of these for around forty years, but have somehow never got the third one!
