Hi all

Im new on here and a new owner of a 2000 series 2 TD5 Auto.

Having a few problems with acceleration. If slowly accelerate it is fine but if you put your foot down hard to pull away it sounds like it's going to stall and is really rough. We want to check the fuel pump pressure but not sure how to do this. Any help would ve appreciated?

Hi Lennie73,

It might be best first to check whether there is oil in the engine wiring loom leaking from the injector loom which is under the cam shaft cover and showing in the connectors at the ECU under the battery cover. You can do this by unplugging the red and black connectors at the ECU and seeing if the sockets are clean.

Hi, to measure the pressure you must addapt a gauge as to screw it in instead of the FT sensor in the FPR(the pressure regulator which is mounted wherevtheb5'th glow plug should be), you must get 4 bar there... i've seen that symptom you described and your presumption about failed pump might be spot on, if the HP stage of the pump fails the engine is running on the LP but stalls under load

Has it had this issue since you bought it , or has it just started, does it easily rev past 3000 rpm , if not then yes , it could be failing pump
You could start with usual , ie disconnect maf then go for a drive and see if it improves , give it a clean (but not straight after a drive )don't clean them when hot, also give map sensor a clean. Do you know if it has had recent head gasket?
Maf sensor is the one behind air filter housing , map sensor middle of intake manifold.
