The museum will be running over this weekend as part of Maitland's Steamfest. It is sited not far from Kurri Kurri on the site of the old Richmond Vale coal mine. I might go for a tootle up there tomorrow, armed with my trusty Nikon.:D

Well, we went to Richmond Vale to see their exhibits for Steamfest and we had a good time. It wasn't as elaborate as the main event at Maitland, but we did not expect that. The Richmond Vale Museum is entirely a volunteer event, but you could tell the volunteers were enthusiastic about the museum.:D

I'll put some photo's on when I figure out what is going on with my photobucket account:mad:

Figured it out at last.:) This is the main office of the Richmond Vale Mine, Crikey, they did things flash in the old days. Looks like a hotel to me.:D

Here comes "Marjorie" to take our one carriage train for a ride. Marjorie a saddle tank engine, was used as a shunter by the BHP steelworks in Newcastle and was retired in 1979.

Inside the carriage, The carriage was used on the main line back in the 1960's. It has been at the museum for over 20 years.

Our tickets for the ride on the train. Reminds me ( being an old fart) of the train tickets of many years ago.

A train ride for the kids and kids at heart.

This really brought back memories of the trolleys they used to use for track inspections on the old Belmont line.
