Hi to you all.

I would like to know if there is a specific radio channel on the UHF 80 channel radios that the Land Rover community prefer to use if wanting to just say hi to other members or if in need of help?

Does anybody still use the vhf radio frequency still and if so what channels are best for communication?

I am based in Hobart Tasmania and try to get around the state when possible.
My contact details are:
Eric on 0418266912.

Thanks for your help as in the above.

Hello Eric,
The UHF CB band plan can be found at UHF CB Australia - 80 Channel UHF CB Radio Information & Allocations (http://uhfcb.com.au/80-Channel-UHF-Information.php)

That site has a lot of info under the side tabs.

The old 27Mhz CB band is still there, but probably not monitored.

As for monitoring the UHF band emergency channel, that is now not done so much in many areas.
Mobile phone coverage has increased so much.

No specific LR chat channel. Under the 40ch plan, there was a "convoy" channel for 4wd. on Ch10. Not sure what it is now.

Don't use a repeater output channel as simplex.
Don't use the Ch5/35 unless there is an emergency.
Ch 40 is for highway use.

Others were allocated by consensus, but not sure what they are under the 80ch plan.
Hope that helps.

Actually, it was 27MHz therefore HF, not VHF.

The bands are (there are others):

MF: 300kHZ-3MHz
HF: 3MHz-30MHz
VHF: 30MHz-300MHz
UHF:300MHz-3GHz
