Well today was a sad day.
At 2:12 AM last night, my beloved L322 was the victim of a random arson attack. we were on the scene within 10 mins, responding to the cars alarm going off with the car parked on the nature strip. however it was too late as the car was already buggered.
3 Fire engines and 2 police cars later (as well as a neighbours garden being lit) and the police deemed that the incident was 'Not suspicious'. To me, two fires, at the same time, in one quiet street seems to be the definition of suspicious.... Police and CFA deemed the car had a serious electrical fault which set the car alight.Regardless, we had full insurance on the car.
Today after seeing my neighbours, we have spotted someone pouring an accelerant on the car out of a plastic jerry can, and then lighting it. whilst the video isn't clear, it is certainly suspicious!!!
Will be taking the footage down to the station tomorrow morning. ill keep updating as we learn. Bloody mongrels!
Pictures are on the way

If it was targeted i wouldn't know why.
We're pretty inoffensive people, were friendly with all the community, We don't owe anyone money, and we haven't crossed any bikie gangs!
PS. Anyone know how to get photos off an iPhone onto here?

It was a range rover, it might be some radical greenie group. My dad went to a country show a while back and all the Range rover and Landie tyres were slashed, not just one each car but all of them. I am not sure what the misguided aims of these idiots was, maybe 4x4's use more fuel or something god only knows, but it might have been something like this?
Sorry to hear about what happened.

That is dreadful :(
My street and surrounding areas are prone to frequent uninvited car cleanouts and thefts... I am very grateful to have a lockable garage that is not filled to the hilt with everything except my car

Took the footage to the police yesterday morning, no word back from them yet. I'll go down there tomorrow arvo if I hear no more.
We're pretty innocent people apart from being into hunting, so it's not a drug feud or anything like that.

I dont quite get this the neighbours were up at 2.12 am and videoed someone lighting you car up. They didnt yell out, they didnt come out and tell the Police when they arrived. There would have been quite a racket with fire engines, police ,not to mention he fire itself. Maybe someone has a problem with your neighbour. Was the car parked more in front of their place? :(
Mistaken caridentity !

This is on the night, I had my phone on me as most teenagers do and grabbed a quick snap, still not quite sure if I was awake or not.

Here is the interior, dash effectively hollowed out as the fire traveled through the wiring loom. From the front it looks like it isn’t bad, but looking inside its knackered. The A pillar trim all melted, but the airbag stayed perfectly intact.
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2015/04/383.jpg (http://s1323.photobucket.com/user/Mitch_Mc/media/IMG_0022_zpsyfsttkmd.jpg.html)
This one is where the fire would have started, with all the trim and wiper panel gone. The brake reservoir was basically gone, in a melted mess as you’d expect.
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2015/04/384.jpg (http://s1323.photobucket.com/user/Mitch_Mc/media/IMG_0020_zpsgdjfu9um.jpg.html)
On the top of the bonnet you can see where the accelerant flashed and burnt the paint off, as opposed to the bubbling of the slow burn afterwards.
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2015/04/385.jpg (http://s1323.photobucket.com/user/Mitch_Mc/media/IMG_0021_zpsgzkzefuh.jpg.html)
The bonnet and grille were all ruined by the firefighters using the jaws of life to open the bonnet when extinguishing the fire.
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2015/04/386.jpg (http://s1323.photobucket.com/user/Mitch_Mc/media/IMG_0025_zpsgzfbcc3d.jpg.html)
Both front airbags popped, or the air lines burnt, leaving the front on the bumpstops. When the car was towed, the wheel liner that had melted onto the tires ripped off. Worth noting that the Yoko Geolanders didn’t give in despite having hot goo all over them. Probably wouldn’t want to run them now though. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2015/04/387.jpg (http://s1323.photobucket.com/user/Mitch_Mc/media/IMG_0027_zpsgoppcizm.jpg.html)
And finally, the bush 3 doors down which was set on fire at the same time as the car, despite being ‘not suspicious’

Sorry to hear about the car. I hope the insurance settles quickly. We're in a relatively quiet street as well and in recent years I've had the driver's side mirror smashed off a Honda Civic, a key run down the driver's side of the Disco and neighbours have had their number plates stolen. I suspect the culprit lives down the street a bit but we haven't caught them in the act.
It is a different world to even 10 years ago.

It really does make you wonder! Contemplating a similar security system to our neighbour as a bit of insurance/deterrent. $250-300 can set you up quite well.

My brothers house a rental in Perth caught fire a couple of years back. He was at work. The fire brigade got there very quickly and put it out but the smoke damage ment the whole place needed repainting & renovating. All his personal stuff was ruined. They blamed it on a fish tank light even though it still worked the aircon unit was all melted and his leather couch bore the brunt of the fire.
Lots of his stuff was thrown around the house and a few things went missing never to be found. Yet it was not suspicious . He had to move out find another place . The house was quicly renovated & sold in time to make the most of the Booming Perth property market. He had a lease but that went out the window. No one knows who reported the fire . I have a good idea.:(

Yes there is.
2 people have been charged, they were already "known to police", seems our idiot tenant (who has also become known to police) upset someone he shouldn't have, and I cop the fall out. No idea how that works, thank goodness for insurance - its going to make a car fire look cheap.
Funny story to come out was the neighbour's teenage son was parking with the girlfriend out the front of their house and got a perfect look at the guys as they came out...
Agree with the CCTV idea, going to do that on our home. Bloke at work set one up and its eye-opening what it is catching and it doesn't capture the street either.

That's weird. A 2004 shape and interior but MY05 compliance plate.
Scouse

The compliance plate is only fitted once the car is about to leave the distribution centre. The build date can be anything up to a year or 2 older, even more on some cars.

The MY05 TD6 is exactly the same as the MY03 with the exception of several bits deap under the covers. Definately won't be able to see any difference from photos.
MY06 TD6 gets the facelift front end, dash, front suspension, 19' wheels, several electronics changes and a heap of smaller changes.

I've been told my house "needs to go to house heaven". So looks like it will be fixed with an excavator.

Common problem with a lot of advertised L322's. I have found many vehicles in ads are misrepresented about their age. Sometimes you can pick up a deal eg. 03 Build and sold as 03, but MY 04 vehicle.
Most of the time however when you check in TOPIx it's eg. built MY03 complied and sold in Australia in 04. Being displayed for sale as 04 Model.
I think Range Rovers change to the new MY in September, which just adds to the confusion.

I'm not going to buy it, haven't got the space to part it out. If anyone reading is tempted, the engine is good as gold, and the gearbox only has about 70K on it. Fire only really burnt the dash and main loom. Firewall did its job well!
Interior is neat as well! Will make an ace buy for someone

Pitty about it going to TRS - everytime I've got a price from them it's been considerably cheaper to get a new genuine part from the UK....
