How to disable the immobiliser / alarm

Having a few issues with the alarm system in my 2010 defender.
When you use the remote to lock the car it beeps the horn twice which very annoying at 5am. I'd prefer to completely remove the alarm/immobiliser.
Is this an easy fix?

pretty sure its only supposed to do that if there is a door not shut properly..cant help with the disarming..would be interested myself to hear how its done.

Mine only flashes the indicators, is it possible you have a door switch stuck on open somewhere?

Try locking the door with just the key and not the remote. From memory that sets the immobiliser but not the alarm.
As dawsey stated, the horn sounding generally indicates a door is not closed properly. Could be a faulty door sensor.
Not sure how you'd go removing the Lucas 10AS system on the Puma.
There was a right up on DEFENDER2.NET awhile back, in regards to how the alarm and immobiliser work, i'll see if I can find it.

"There are three ways to lock a vehicle (such as a Defender) with a 10AS, central locking, and both perimetric and volumetric sensors, namely:-

1) Lock with plip - immobiliser and alarm are set, and both the perimetric and volumetric sensors are operative. Opening a door etc, or any movement in the car will set off the alarm.

2) Lock door with key - immobiliser is set, alarm is not set, neither the perimetric nor volumetric sensors are operational. Opening a door etc, movement in the car, breaking a window etc will not set off the alarm. This is the method LR recommend if pets or people are to be left in the car.

3) Lock with plip before shutting driver's door, then shut door after 'mislock' beep - immobiliser is set, and the alarm is set with perimetric detection only since the mislock condition disables the volumetric sensor. Opening a door will set of the alarm, but movement in the car will not. Ideal for pets (and possibly children) since the alarm won't sound unless a door is opened."

It is important to remember that if you lock a Defender with the key, the alarm is not set at all.

Only one problem, the AUS and SA spec Puma's do not include interior sensors.

You can disable the passive imobiliser in the 10AS module, but not sure about the whole system. You just need access to diagnostic gear. A nanocom evolution, MSV2 or Hawkeye will do the trick.
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly.

Thanks for the replies. I think you maybe onto the cause being a door locking issue as the internal light is also not going out when all doors are shut. However I did try just locking with just the key and it locks then keeps unlocking immediately. I'd really prefer to go back to basics and remove all the technology and just Lock up the car with a key.

It's definitely an open door issue. It happened to me a few days ago. Even when a door is left open, the interior light will turn off after a period of time. (I know this, because, I was changing the stereo, when the light went out on it's own.. Possibly so that it doesn't drain the battery I guess)

You were right. Got it looked at today at the local Land Rover workshop and they replaced the door switch $100 labour $20 parts.

A quick check

Set the interior light to come on when each door is open individually including rear door (alarm system works off door switches ) and off with door closed ,if that works then open the bonnet and check the switch near fire wall . I was caught with the fire wall one as it was not upright and gave the systoms you have .

Or $7.95 at jaycar, plus a screwdriver and saved yourself $$$$$$.
