Hi guys,
I have just got my first Defender TD5,

i have a Disco 1 V8 95.
In that i have a 24 Spline rear ARB locker and HD drive shafts from MR.
Will this swap straight over to the front of a TD5 2000 model Defender?
I am hoping the splines and fitment should be the same.

Will I need the HD CV joints? (I believe i will be recommended to get them, but I will not be driving silly, I am calm on my vehicles)
Are the HD CV joint softer than the factory I read that some where on here I think.

Thanks very much, Nige.

24 spline rover diff is the same in the front of your Defender as both ends of the Discovery from about 1994, so your air leaker should be a straight swap. As to whether you 'need' stronger axles and CVs, that's up to you- of course you are more likely to break one with a locker than without. I upgraded all the drive components on my 130 when fitting lockers, mainly because we were planning some remote touring and also do a lot of solo 4wd trips. Might not have worried so much if we were always within reach of assistance. I guess carrying a spare stock CV is an option.
The Ashcroft CV joints are a softer but tougher material than the stock CVs, I'm no metallurgist but I guess they are not as brittle.

Thank you very much POD,
I had a good feeling that it was the same, but needed some god advice before i strip it all down.

I think I might try and get some HD CVs
