Not sure if this is allowed, but here is a link to my Safari Snorkel install that I did on the weekend.

DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - Disco 3 Safari Snorkel Install (http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic128594.html)

Tried to copy all the data in but I would need to re-load the photos, which I will try and do sometime but don't have time for it now.

Cheers

Thanks for that. I was intending to install my snorkel myself, until I saw what was involved in your post.
Not criticising your great post, but now I will happily fork out to get some other poor sap to do it.

Your forearms will appreciate paying someone else to do the job. It took weeks for the scratches on mine to heal - doing up the nyloc nuts in the wheel arch was one of the worst jobs I've ever completed. Especially the one at top/rear.

Hi Jonesy,
I'm with you. Mind you you do have a certain amount of self satisfaction whilst nursing the wounds.......and as for those bloody clips..............:)

Could someone please explain why the ho;es have to be so large, greater than 12mm. I thought the bolts that go through these holes are much smaller.

To allow a tolerance for accessory fitters just to whack in the holes without wasting time getting them spot on. I've installed a safari snorkel on an 80 series landcruiser, and if you take your time and make sure everything is lined up correctly you only need about 1mm over stud size for it to slide into place. Guys getting paid to fit these things don't take that much time and just bung the holes in and bolt it up.

haha from about an hour in I was wishing I'd let ARB install it..

However at least now I know it was done properly and it' properly sealed.
And if I need to I can get the airbox out again.

The holes are drilled so big for tolerance. it's not needed, the template is spot on!

The top bolt is horrible. I have nightmares about it!
