Fine, sunny, blue sky's here today. Not a cloud in the sky.
It rained here last weekend. Greened things up a bit but there are still bare patches of dirt in my front lawn.

Why do you lot up north hog all the rain? Send a bit down this way.

I've been outside knocking down my neighbours sleepers he put up to stop water from my yard going into his.

The water in my yard was climbing up to the damp course.

He will not be happy when he realises we are sharing the floodwater now.

Mine has dropped rapidly following the water release thankfully.

We must have been very lucky today, left Albany Creek round 2pm going to MR Auto at Redcliffe to collect the next round of parts, then home having done some sight seeing along the waters edge to the Western Suburbs of Brisbane by 4.45pm. We must have just snuck through before it all went nuts. It was absolutely bucketing down, parts of the Deagon Deviation were already starting to flood, down to single lane in both directions.

Was glad to be in the Rangie :)

My mate from Redcliffe was inundated for the first time ever. His house was regularly surrounded by a moat, but never before has it flooded. Flood plains north and south of his house have been raised two metres or more and developed for housing.
By the time he realised the house was going under, the water outside was neck deep. He called the SES and spent over half an hour on hold, meanwhile the water was still rising so he hung up and called the fire brigade. The firies said they'd be there ASAP. They haven't got there yet.
His three year old XR6 is also a write-off.

Well today it is sunny :) And the river is rising slowly. It shouldn't get as high as our last flood, maybe only minor level. Our wheelie bin got washed away last night, I found it 8 foot up a tree in the creek:D Oh and there is a Land Cruiser floating around down the road, you would think people would pay attention to the flood markers wouldn't you. Lots of tourists around, must have never seen a river flood before.

We had enough rain yesterday to over fill a bucket my wife placed in the middle of back yard ( catching water for ferns)
Also the electric locks on my Falcon Ute got moisture in them , after unlocking the vehicle this morning then every time I locked it would just unlock again. Just finished pulling the locks out & put them in a tub of metho to dry them out . All working OK now.

Emergency services were in the same boat (haha) as everyone else.
Most of our members got stuck on the roads or cut off from base. When we didmget a few together, it was too dangerous to go out. 95% of jobs logged yesterday dont need help today. Now the house clean outs start.
'Swiftwater' teams had no boat and no qualified operators, yet we all did what we could...

We've just been getting the edges of all this weather, the river here still isn't running and April was double the average.

Relations left Brissie at 2pm Friday intending to beat the traffic on way to Maleny. By 7pm they had only reached the Bribie Island turnoff, so went over the overpass and turned back. Said many cars idled so long while stopped they ran out of fuel. Others had flat batteries and couldn't be started. Sat morning there were still long delays so we detoured via Woodford instead. Unbelievable volumes of water had gone through in numerous places. Deaths were very sad.

Big thanks to Dave for the offer of space at his workshop Friday night as I was in the area with family and camper heading to Caboolture for the Urban Country music festival. We ended up cooking dinner in the camper at Caboolture BP car park and then headed home when we got confirmation the weekend was off. Ended up having to camp at the top of my own driveway as the creek in our property was a meter over the bridge. About a 9hr round trip from South Maclean to (almost Caboolture) but we did it safely and got home which is all that matters at the end of the day. Thanks again Dave.

Crikey! I'd been away since Friday morning and, as I don't listen to the radio and hadn't seen any TV, I hadn't heard about the rain in Qld.

The house is still uninhabitable, repairs from the hail storm last November have not yet started. The insurance assessors have not yet looked at the house since the flood. In a bid to hurry things along, last Friday morning he phoned the insurance company and told them he needed to utilise the emergency accommodation clause in the policy; the company told him that he would be contacted by phone within two hours. Still waiting, hasn't heard a peep.

Pm me if you want to know which insurance company.

lot of it going around

pretty poor behaviour on the part of some insurance companies and some pretty heavy profiteering going on by a lot of tradies in the area

the local charities are ringing round local businesses trying to raise funds to help out as many of the old ways of getting support have been culled by government it seems.

A tree fell on my house about three years ago, I had to chase and chase my insurance company to get repairs done and then some of the repairs were not carried out in a tradesman like manner and I had to chase the insurance company again. It took months and the storm was nowhere near as big as the recent one we had.

I feel sorry for people who have had damage done recently as there will be a lot more claims to process and the sharpy tradesman will be out there trying to scam the system.
