Hi All,

I am intending to fit a front diff guard to my 2004 Defender. Has anyone any recommendations as to what make would be best.

Any information would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Lionel

AMV Make them, also i think Jack Macnamara make a weld on Drain bowl type cover.
Ritters and LRA can get them as well.
Ring some of the major Rover based companies, most will be able to get them fairly easily.

is there anything wrong with just welding plate steel to the pumpkins as protection ?

No thats what i'm going to do some time with the coiled housings, I'll also shave them as well i think.

Just do it slowly as not to warp the housing, as the round part to protect the centre is very thin.

Graeme Cooper Automotive in Sydney sell them, not sure on the price, but i think they were around $100-200 bucks. Matt

All the ones I've seen seem to be about that as well.

A LR club mate makes 'em and sells 'em for $60 odd. They are similar to those Graeme Cooper ones. Here's here in Qld but I could ask if you want. Might cost a bit to send down though coz of the weight.

It's a Range Rover note the self cleaning device attached (optional).

I'll take a few pics tomorrow. Luckily I haven't fitted mine yet so will take a pic 'before' and, if I get around to it, 'after'.

Dave I'll have a chat to Dave (why is everyone called Dave ?) and see if he has one to suit Disco. Is it the same diff as the Defenders ?

If they're all the same, i'll want 2 at that price, 1 for the rangy and 1 for the disco style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif Probably Camo will want one for his classic Rangy too.

These are the diff guards sold by KLR Automotive here in Penrith. They are $131 each - I don't think you'd find a better one.

That's the style I have, although mine is galvanised rather than zinc passivated. Cost me $90 from Rovparts in Adelaide.

I have the QT diff guards which are really good and a bit bling bling.
They also blot to the diff and go all the way around the diff so there is no chance of them falling off
