I have just this weekend left my Puma at Albury. On the way to pick up a rolled perentie on Saturday afternoon the engine light came on at Glenrowan and I pulled over to ascertain on what was wrong. To cut all the crap that went on with motels , hire vehicles and at the weekend from landrover assist ect. The dealer at Albury on Monday found that the turbo hose from the intercooler that had been replaced under that recall had in fact been fitted incorrectly so that it forced the fan shroud towards the fan. Now this appears to clear the fan when the engine is stopped, however when under load and the engine rotates on the mounts due the torque, the fan rubbed against the shroud then has worn a hole in the shroud and then proceeded to wear a hole in the turbo hose, resulting in the light coming on and the vehicle going into limp mode.
The Landrover Dealer at a regional centre in Vic has admitted fault and going to pay for the replacement hose and will look at the other damage then make a decision on the fan and the shroud. So maybe a bit of negotiating required.
So if you 2.2 has had the mod done please check that the hose has clearance from the shroud.
And no I did not hear a thing as I think it would have only rubbed against the shroud under load, how heavy I don't know.
Otherwise picked up the perentie near Woolongong with a hire vehicle and all is ok, but my Landy is still in Albury waiting parts.
