I have just this weekend left my Puma at Albury. On the way to pick up a rolled perentie on Saturday afternoon the engine light came on at Glenrowan and I pulled over to ascertain on what was wrong. To cut all the crap that went on with motels , hire vehicles and at the weekend from landrover assist ect. The dealer at Albury on Monday found that the turbo hose from the intercooler that had been replaced under that recall had in fact been fitted incorrectly so that it forced the fan shroud towards the fan. Now this appears to clear the fan when the engine is stopped, however when under load and the engine rotates on the mounts due the torque, the fan rubbed against the shroud then has worn a hole in the shroud and then proceeded to wear a hole in the turbo hose, resulting in the light coming on and the vehicle going into limp mode.
The Landrover Dealer at a regional centre in Vic has admitted fault and going to pay for the replacement hose and will look at the other damage then make a decision on the fan and the shroud. So maybe a bit of negotiating required.
So if you 2.2 has had the mod done please check that the hose has clearance from the shroud.
And no I did not hear a thing as I think it would have only rubbed against the shroud under load, how heavy I don't know.
Otherwise picked up the perentie near Woolongong with a hire vehicle and all is ok, but my Landy is still in Albury waiting parts.

Oldyella, IMHO you should not have to pay for anything.
Don't know how far you've taken this at the moment, but if you're being asked to pay ANYTHING, I believe you should speak to JLR head Office, Customer Service or whatever & alert them, before paying anything, and ask them to sort it out. Then at least, they can't say they didn't know.
Understand you may have already done all this,..Hope it works out OK.

Have spoken to the service rep and he has said to bring it down for an assessment , but they seemed to be receptive. But still another day and 400 clicks.

I was speaking to the service department at the Canberra dealer today, they asked if i had the recall done?
I advised that I was aware of the recall, but had relocated and wrapped the inter-cooler hose in a plastic shroud from day one, 68000km later no issues.
I also mentioned that there have been issues after the recall, and the mechanic said that there have been four advisory notices come out on the fitting of the hose.
The service manager advised that they will order a new hose in for me and I can keep it as a spare for when I need it.:)
