Hey guys

I guess I'm a bit of a sucker for P38's, so I've bought another one :-) I fly to Sydney today to pick it up, and like I did for the other two P38's I've had, I'm driving it home!

It's roughly a 3,000km trip, going inland this time to visit family along the way, even so, I'm going to be doing all 3,000 of those kms in 3 days!

Will post updates along the way and pics when I get home (can't post pics with my phone).

Cheers
Keithy

Good luck, pity you don't have time to catch up with some of us for a quick sherbert !

Three P38's = too much money :p

I only have one at home ATM, my first one drowned in 2010 :-(

I'd love to catch up with everyone, sadly time is of the essence as my traveling buddy has to be home for work first thing Monday :-(

Having done this a few times (albeit not for a P38) I'm looking forward to following this :)

I would have thought 3 p38's would mean no money at all!

Best of luck with the trip, will be watching with interest.

Landed in Sydney at 1800hrs, met Rob at the airport and made it (in style) to just south of Nowra for night one.

Two observations so far!

- LPG is about 30c/l cheaper in Sydney than Townsville, and the new P38 runs amazing on it (new to me).

- It's freaking cold here! I'm two-finger typing as I can't bend my thumb far enough to use the keypad properly!

Off to Wee Waa after smoko tomorrow.

P.S. The exhaust note is fantastic!

Cheers

It will be interesting to hear of your overall fuel economy.

We got to Wee Waa at about 2100hrs last night. It was a big day, nothing for the Rangie :-)

I haven't sat down and done the hard and fast numbers yet, but I believe between the LPG and standard fuel tank I have a fuel range of about 900km realistically. Mind you, we've been driving a touch quicker than the posted speed!

Off to Emerald shortly. 5 degrees overnight here makes the trip north sound so much more appealing!

Safe travels Keith....at least you're not flooded out around Sydney to Brisbane like a couple of weeks ago!

Hey Keith,

Glad your enjoying the fruits of my labour. It was a pleasure to meet you and mum at the airport, sorry about the cold...

The wife said, when I got home at "2.00am" (you know what I'm talking about, work..) its not right someone else is driving "Hoover", but I look forward to hearing more of her adventures. As you know we are going over to the dark side ( first time in 30 years ) with a brand new Prado to haul our Ultimate xtrak, we will definitely stop in on our way to the top. I'll be following your posts with interest, good luck and happy P38ing with "Hoover".

Thanks fellas and thanks Rob! It was an absolute pleasure to finally meet you, and the time, care and effort you've put into Hoover really does show! Such a pleasure to drive!

So I've got two P38's in the driveway now, instead of stopping at Emerald yesterday we decided to continue on home (1,600-odd kilometers). No dramas along the way except passing 3 officers of the law within 100km after crossing the QLD border, and three rabbits inspected the tyres once the sun went down.

Once I've given her a wash I'll nab a side-by-side pic of the two rangies!

Cheers

A side-by-side pic!

I nabbed a few pics, but for some reason my phone didn't remember that I took them, so this is the only one I've got! They are both in standard height.

I'll add a pic of the new P38 after a bath!
