I am looking to add a wire to a connector block in the left hand cargo area.

I took some photos of the connector but I cannot find a match on the interweb.

Below is a list of all of my photos (I could only upload 5 of them due a the upload limit - I will see if I can upload the rest later)

Photo 01 - Cover panel removed (left hand rear cargo area)
Photo 02 - Closer view showing connector block
Photo 03 - Close up of connector (as fixed to vehicle)
Photo 04 - Connector released
Photo 05 - Close up of connector (male pin side)
Photo 06 - Close up of connector (female cavity side)
Photo 07 - Close up of connector (from rear)
Photo 08 - Male flat pin released from one connector (this is the trailer igition feed wire)
Photo 09 - Close up of Male flat pin (showing pin locking cavity)
Photo 10 - Close up of Male flat pin (showing method of wire crimp)

There are no identification markings in these connectors. I have looked at several sites on the web and they do not appear to be from a recognised connector company (Delphi, Bosch, Deutsch, Amphenol, AMP, Tyco).

Any help identifying these would be appreciated.

Are there any numbers on the plugs?

You might try Jaycar. Take the photos with you.

I suspect they'll be an automotive industry special. Doubt they'd be unique to Land Rover so might be worth looking at Ford or other makes. Also try British Off Road, they may have something off a wreck you could use.

I couldn't find anything in the Amphenol autonotive range that looked like them, nor in the Deutsch range.

Are there any numbers on the plugs?

The only numbers are those that can be seen in photo 7.

I have posted an ultra-close up photo 07 so you can see the numbers.
The numbers 3 and 4 are the pin numbers (numbers 1 & 2 are not shown in the cropped photo).
From the photo numbers seem to read "PB1 2 >PBT-6F15<"

When I first saw these numbers I had assumed they were to identify the type of plastic.

However while typing my reply I happen to do a search and they appear to be legit Tyco model numbers. I will follow these up.

Thanks for your post - it has been helpful

Bugger, it seems the numbers "PBT-GF15" translate to Poly Butylene Terephthalate resin (plastic used for injection moulding) which has a reinforcement filler consisting of 15% Glass Fibre .

A Daesung electric cat shows that the PBT GF15 is a material type for a MTS 064 type connector which can be found in Delphi catalogues as Micro64 connectors. I'd go to one of the auto parts stores and look through their catalogues for connectors equipped with photos and dimensions.

Can i ask what you want to do to the Trailer wiring Harness?
I may have a wire tail in my tool box at work.

Cheers

You could always try "Connectors 'r Us" or "Connector World" :D

Thanks for the offer.

I want to borrow the Ignition Feed to the trailer plug to power up a device that requires an ignition signal wire.
However I do not want to cut into any of the D4's wiring and I also do not want to use a quick splice connector(I hate those things).

If I intercept the signal at this connector (inside the cargo area) but just releasing the ignition feed wire from the connector it will make my wiring run a bit simpler.

At the moment I do not need the ignition signal to the trailer. I will work out a way to splice the cable later.

I actually plan to use the wire with female pin (as this is the upstream side).
So my photo of the wire with the male pin attached is a bit redundant now

I've been wondering who makes these connectors too.

My guess is that they are a custom design and you may not be able to get them independently.

That being said I think it's worth trying to at least find who the OEM is as it may be possible to do something such as keep the contacts (pins) and replace the housings with standard ones from the same OEM (it's unlikely the contacts are custom just the housings).

One likely candidate that hasn't been mentioned so far is JST:-

J.S.T. Mfg. Co., Ltd. (http://www.jst-mfg.com/product/search_e.php'type=1&id=21&page=1)

Try here; Automotive Connector Accessories - for online sales of Power Connectors| RS Components (http://au.rs-online.com/web/c/connectors/power-connectors/automotive-connector-accessories/)

my younger brother is a Communications Engineer and he sent me here and to another site that I can't recall when chasing a connector for the Disco.

Have a look at:

Have a look at the 3D Model. Open it then click on it to active then click and drag for a full 3D view. Pretty sexy!

I use F9 fuse in the main engine bay fuse box to power my LED daytime running lights, if you are only looking for a power source thats active when motor power is on this may suit your needs.

Fuse F9 is not used in my car, a 2005 TDV6 HSE, other than by the daytime running lights. I cut a small battery connector that I cut one leg off, being the same thickness as a fuse and able to crimp a small insulated wire to.

Tombie, you were very close but I have found an exact match.

The company is Yazaki and the series of connectors are YESC Kaizen 6.3 Series Unsealed.

I have attached pages 27 to 30 from the YESC Kaizen where I have highlighted the part numbers of the male and female connector housings as well as the male and female terminals
