Some amazing scenery and wildlife, whilst traveling in a Defender. It's nice to dream, maybe one day!

Whilst most dream, they did it. Very fortunate they are.

That's one continent I'd absolutely love to do however I wonder what the machine gun wielding minders cost to hire. I saw a news clip on TV just the other day that said Kenya is now just so dangerous and carjackings in the capital (Nairobi) were a daily occurrence (way to ruin a trip). I also wonder how you go about avoiding trouble with so many beggar kids coming up to you (they often have older "pimp" style guardians).
Leigh110 - I think you might be due some glasses mate :)
Ian aka ozy013 - how did you come across this clip? I'd like to find them and ask a few questions.
sitec - you must keep us posted and let us know the details :)

Here's another from the same guys.

Didge, I was just doing some research in regards to getting a Go Pro in the future. Basically I just stumbled across it on Youtube.

If it's any help Leigh110, I too initially thought she was naked. Had to watch twice, just to double check:angel:.

Sitec, great news, wow what an adventure you will have.

Log Book | London to Cape Point | A Journey to the Cape of good hope (http://londontocapepoint.com/log-book/)

Hey Didge, one of the guy's friends Alex has a pretty comprehensive page in regards to the trip. Maybe it might answer some of your questions. I haven't had a chance to look through it all yet. Might provide some good reading.

Sitec, there's also plenty of useful info in regards to each country they traveled through.

" If you went travelling without safety as a concern then that probably would be stupid. All over the world, there are areas within many countries that are dangerous and areas that aren't. Kenya actually felt the least friendly of the countries we drove through. We didn't venture close to the Sudan / South Sudan border, and had no problems on our route from Wadi Halfa to Khartoum and on to Ethiopia. However things can change quickly and taking current advice from places like the UK FCO website and researching on overlanding forums would be invaluable if you're planning a trip. Don't necessarily be put off by what's reported in the press, but do take heed, and if you do one day go, you'll have an incredible time!"

Just some advice they gave in regards to someone asking about safety and militia on the youtube page.

I suppose for me it wasnt the place as such, more the actual going out and doing it. I would love to do an expedition in Oz, we are so lucky in this country to get the chance to do so.

As for gopros, im looking myself and the Hero 4 Silver is good enough. Kogan has then for over $100 cheaper than anywhere i have seen so far.

I wouldn't bother buying a gopro again. I'd buy four of the copies for the price of one gopro. They do a lot of post editing to get their videos to look so good, so unless you're prepared to do the same do t expect them to look as dazzling. Don't worry about the knockoffs being immoral- Mr gopro stole the idea from a south american company ( if I recall correctly)
