View Full Version : 18 inch rims for an 08 Vogue TDV8

Hi there.

I am looking to get 5 x 18 inch rims for an 08 TDV8 Vogue which at the moment has 22 inch Stormer rims. I have found some advertised on the net which are off a Disco 2 TD5. Problem is I don't know whether they would suit (fit) my vehicle. I've been told that not all 18 inch rims would necessarily fit. The reason I am doing this is because there seems to be a greater range & availability of AT tyres for off road purposes.

Can anyone with knowledge of these things help please?

Regards
Steve

I think you'll find the D2 has a smaller centre hole (spigot) diameter. When one fits RRS/L322 rims onto a D2/P38A, one has to fit hubcentric rims because the wheels have a bigger hole than the D2/P38A

Will these do? http://www.aulro.com/afvb/wheels-tyres-suspension-sale/212757-5-x-discovery-3-4-2-7l-18-alloy-rims-tyres.html

These are a bit far away, too: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/wheels-tyres-suspension-sale/216655-18-alloy-rims.html

Thanks Ron for all that info .. it has been most helpful (including the links).

Kind regards
Steve

According to the LR parts catalogue only Style 2 18" rims (RRC503040MNH) will fit over the front brakes.

I haven't actually tried any LR 18" rims. However, my understanding is that no LR 18" rim will fit over the front callipers of L322 tdv8. They will only fit 2002-2006 L322.

The only 18" rim to fit over the front callipers is a GOE or Compomotive rim from the UK. Google GOE or Green Oval Experience for info.

Otherwise it's a LR 19" rim.

Steve I have these 18s on my MY05.
You're welcome to try it on yours, but it's a long drive to Sunshine Coast.

Are your's 7.5" or 8" and are they RRC503040MNH?

Whilst the parts catalogue lists this part number as 18x8" and fits the 4.2 SC and 3.6 TDV8, there are many discrepancies on the net as to whether this part# is 7.5" or 8" and whether they do or do not fit over the 08/09 4-pot Brembos. According to the parts catalogue there is an earlier similar pattern 7.5" with a different part#.

Thanks. It's worth a try. But there's not much room on the 19" rims currently fitted to the front.

TRS advised that RRC503040MNH rim does NOT fit over the 08/09 Brembos. Hence the version of the parts catalogue that I have must be incorrect. This doesn't explain the apparent discrepancies in rim width of this part number.

I remember Drivesafe saying when he bought his MY07 RRV tdv8 he couldn't find an 18" rim to fit over the brakes, and that some in the US had modified the brakes (shaving/grinding the callipers or replacing the Brembo with a smaller caliper) to get an 18" rim to fit. I think he even kept a set of 18" rims from his old td6 RRV for the new RRV which he discovered didn't fit the tdv8.

Later Compomotive started producing an 18" rim to fit the RRV tdv8 & D4/RRS with 3.0 tdv6.

....

Graeme, they are 8", the ones pictured above - sorry not sure of numbers.

Graeme, they are 8", the ones pictured above - sorry not sure of numbers. What MY is your vehicle?
I could only find 7.5" versions today, even a set advertised as 8". If you get the opportunity, finding a RRC...... part number might be useful in discovering the discrepancies.

Edit: I suspect the parts catalogue error is that this particular 18" rim didn't get its description altered to not be suitable for 4.2SC or 3.6TDV8 when these engines and brakes were added. A 2nd style 18" rim in the picture of 6 rim styles has the notation of not being suitable and the other 4 rims are 19" and 20" - all suitable.

some in the US had modified the brakes (shaving/grinding the callipers or replacing the Brembo with a smaller caliper) to get an 18" rim to fit. When I spotted the reference in the parts catalogue I thought I'd swap 6-pot Brembos on a MY11/12 with MY08/09 4-pot Brembos to fit the specific LR 18" rim, but it appears that only the expensive Compomotive rims fit.

Thanks for the offers CBH25 and harlie.

Do you both have Brembo brakes up the front .. as I understand it they seem to be the stumbling block for fitting any 18 inch rims to my vehicle?

Steve.

No - MY05 is the old banger.

Mine is an 05 as well, so no Brembos.

Do the 18" Compomotives that were in the AULRO Markets fit? (I deleted the ad yesterday as it was over 90 days old - but I can resurrect it.)

They were bought from GOE November last year. Unused, still in boxes - in Brisbane, too.
