Does anyone have any clever ideas to protect a threaded aerial base mounting?
I'd prefer to keep it permanently attached as per photo below but I'm concerned that it will degrade or corrode.
Not sure if its body is stainless but the internal part would have to be at risk. The bonnet bracket is stainless.

A threaded cap of some kind is any obvious idea but I haven't come across anything obvious so far.

I'm not sure if threaded caps are available for the SO239 (they are for other connectors). However, you could just get a PL259 plug. discard the centre bit, and cap off the open end

I just Googled "SO239 Cap" and came up with a multitude of them. (The PL259/SO239 combo are commonly called a UHF plug and socket)

What about a plastic chair tip.
Pretty sure I have seen them at Bunnings, but here is a link to some others:

Thanks guys. I didn't know the numbering PL259/SO239.
I think I'll get one of the threaded caps.
Cheers,
Scott

PL259 is the plug.
SO239 is the socket.
They are commonly called UHF connectors from when UHF was considered to be a lot lower frequency band than it is today.

Rubber chair leg. I happened to be in a rubber & foam store looking at a foam mattress for the camper trailer and look what I find...

12mm is the perfect size, with a good tight fit. Cost 75c each, so I got two.

The comms shop I got my aerial from had a box of rubber caps for that type of aerial that they gave me a couple of. Maybe drop into your local shop and see if they have some caps?
