Hi All
What have you all used your side battery boxes for if you have removed the 2 batteries either side ?

I have used one side for tool box storage and the other for twin batteries (starting and auxilary) which frees up the space under the passenger seat.
I have sealed this space up and use it for dual battery controller, additional fuses, the main electrical isolator, electical spares and two way radio in the future.

The tool box is the biggest gal box I could find from B....gs that would fit through the opening and I secured it to the battery tray/slide with a rubber strap.-I will get a size at the weekend.
I sealed up the underseat battery box with 1.6mm gal sheet, pop rivetts and Sikaflex effectively building a box within the existing box. I removed all the rust, primed and bitumen coated the inside of the existing box first to try and prevent it rusting from the inside. I cleaned out the drains at the bottom as well to try and make sure it doesn't hold mud or water.

No worries.
The under seat mods are a bit of a PITA to do but I think the mod came out OK.
I have two large batteries (1000ah 950cca main and deep cycle 120ah auxilary) and they wouldn't fit under the seat and still have space for the dual battery controller and fuse box.
It made sense to install the batteries in the tray that is designed for them and the other electrical bits and pieces out of harms way under the seat.
I'll take some photo's over the weekend if you like.
