Can you go from Innamincka to the Birdsville Track via Fifteen Mile Track, then on to Walkers Crossing Track? Some of the Hema maps show that you can & some say restricted access. Paul.

walkers is mostly closed as it goes under water at the first sniff of rain. We have only done it once over many years, but if it is open it is a lot quicker !

That's what we did in 2013. I think we hit Walkers track about 25 km north of Moomba. There was a new bridge at Walkers Crossing but the public still had to drive through the creek bed ,which was bone dry. That arm of the Cooper is the overflow that fills Coongie lakes. .W.

I was there in 2013 and couldn't understand the new bridge not being open.

We're heading up to Coongie Lake in late June. Is the Walker's Crossing track a worthwhile detour on the way home? Last time, we came south via the Bore Track and Toona Gate, very enjoyable trip but something different would be good too.
