Hi all,
All petrol or diesel heads need to go and see Mad Max Fury Road.
It's awesome!!!!
Definitely has an Australian feel about it, plenty of Aussie actors and cars.
It will wear you out though, it's a full on action movie.

Cheers Rich

Tom Hardy is ok, he conveys the desolation of a broken, haunted man well but he had huge shoes to fill.
No one does wild eyed, no one home madness like Mel, and yes Charlize Theron is bad arse !

Went with 2 friends last night. We are all fans of the originals (except Thunderdome...is anyone?) I went in with an open mind, didn't watch any of the previews or read any reviews but I've been hanging out for 4 years for this. Hate to say it but none of us enjoyed it.
The cars were too over-the-top and looked professionally made, not cobbled together and believable like in max 2. For a civilization supposedly lacking in fuel, they didn't mind using it up!
One endless car chase after the other with no variation to the theme. It really is just one big car chase with a boring 30 min in the middle with some soul searching which just feels out of place.
The main story theme was absolute rubbish.
Acting was terrible. Tom Hardy has about 10 lines in the movie and it was more about Charlize who did a much better job. The other chicks were shockingly bad.
The music score didn't work in the quiet parts and the rock track was the same track used throughout the rest of the whole movie with that stupid guitarist strapped out the front of that truck.
It was so drawn out I started to pick on the technical flaws, which there are many.
I realise it's aimed at 14 year old boys who only want to see explosions, loud noises and don't care about the story line but I came away from it really disappointed. It's not a movie that will be watched over and over in the future like max 1 and 2. I do rate it above Thunderdome though, but only just.
I also know that there will be others that loved it and I respect that.

Cheers

I don't watch mad max for intelligent plot development or characterisations.
I watch it to see crazy cars blowing up :)

Don't really know how to say it. On the one hand I wasn't expecting that once in a lifetime movie experience. But on the other I expected more.
No back story. Unless you have seen the originals you have no idea who Max 'is'
No storyline, storytelling just one big.......nothing!
Poor acting, poor dialogue.
I'm sorry to say I thought it was ****e!
But I'm prepared to be wrong. Many others have loved it.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but I intend too. I have heard various reports about it, both good and bad, so I guess I'm prepared for plenty of car chase scenes and not much of a plot, but who cares, I'm going anyway.:)

I believe this modified FX had a part in it. Looks awesome!!!!:o

I was given gold class tickets in June last year, and had been waiting for a decent flick to use them on.

Very torn after watching this. Some of it was great, i.e. the stunts, cinematography and some of the locations.

However... (possible SPOILER ALERT, but I think most people already understand the simple plot)

The story was not that bad, but poorly executed. I thought there was gaping contradictions in premise, i.e. post apocolypse, yet fuel and ammo were wasted (why did they need such a cavalcade of pursuers for one ****ing truck with 2 real dangers on-board?!).

In a nutshell, not gritty enough for me, but kept me entertained.

We went to see it at the Broome Open Air Cinema, which was a great venue.

Sadly, I have to give it 2 stars, and only because I am a generous soul.

Too much action and not enough story. Why the hell where they transporting thousands of litres of breast milk in a petrol tanker?

I like the new Max. He was good.

Wait for the DVD.

I've tried watching the original Mad Max movies and wasn't able to get too far into any of them pretty much for the above reasons. I had this conversation at work as to what the big deal was about these movies and the answer I got from one person was that the point of these movies is that there is no point to them.

Not my kind of movie but each to their own.

Myself, Emma and some mates from the gym went to see it last night..

It was entertaining... Loud.. Enjoyable. And the 3D wasn't overdone like many are.

I didn't go expecting the worlds best story-line, just some entertainment.

And that's exactly what it was...

If you have a need for strong story lines then avoid...
If you enjoy loud, crazy vehicles, a bit of violence etc.. and just kicking back and shutting the analytical part of your brain down for a while (I use this stuff to escape from what I do all day - or shoot stuff on XBox)

I watched it ! They started on the left hand side of the screen, mayhem ensued until the massed mess reached the right hand side of the screen then stopped while they realised something and then they raced back to the left hand side again.
The end!

I now know where it ended up---;)

I didn't like it, too many technical holes, and no real "story line". I don't know what I should have expected, it just didn't seem part of the Mad Max franchise to me.

Well, finally got around to watching this - I'm glad I didn't pay to see it at the Cinemas. I can count all the films I haven't managed to sit through on one hand - this is one of them.

This one is as unwatchable as 'Sound of Music'

I have always loved Mad Max 2, it was shown to us in high school!! (doubt that would happen in these cotton wool wrapped days)...Got into Mad Max 1 as and adult, but never really took to 3. Fury Rd, was a good enough movie, I enjoyed it, but I would equate it to 3. For me, Mel is the mad max, he can't be replaced.....fury rd seemed to try to be even further 'way out' and the vehicles were just over the top for me. Seemed like they tried to just be more 'over the top' than anything else before, seemed a bit Americanised. So for me, Mad Max 1 and 2 are all that counts, and they should leave it at that.

Homestar
5th September 2015, 06:46 PM
Yeah, the first one was great, the second was was pretty good, the third one was ok, and this one is just.... Well, horrid.

I didn't even think Max was very mad compared to the rest of them - maybe it should have been titled 'comparatively normal Max'

It would have been more interesting if they had all stayed home and has a cup of tea.

Yeah, I thought "Fury Road" was over the top and underwhelming. Plot was VERY thin (what plot) and it was just a series of road races with mass destruction. I guess I didn't expect much of a story line and I was not disappointed.

I hired the bluray last night. The best part was watching the "extras". How they filmed the movie and interviews with cast and crew. Those vehicle stunts were real and not cgi. Bloody good work. Pity the film was crap.

Creepy looking bad guy, nonsensical language, crazy thing to fight about, mental cars...

It's not engaging me mentally but I go 'oooh' when things blow up.
It's about what I expect tbh
