Drove around all day in my FFR until the end of the day when I got into it after stopping at the shops ... DEAD ... The battery wouldn't turn over the engine .. had a look and the battery is a "Charge Master" ... They must have put a cheap Battery in at auction ....

The battery looks like it is Sweating ...

What is the best replacement ?

Why would it just die with no warning ????

Most likely just dropped a cell - this is the time of year that crook batteries die.

Take your pick, not a lot of difference between battery brands these days - I suspect many of them are made by the same manufacturer. I prefer CAT batteries myself - they seem to last longer and cost is pretty comparable. I think you have to go with an R type battery, ie N70ZZR for the LR cable arrangement.

The "R" stands for reverse.

It refers to what side of the battery the terminal posts are on.

might be worth a call to Maxiparts (aka Queensland diesel spares) as they were selling Maxus brand N70zz for less than $90.

It's Their own brand battery it would appear.
They supply the transport industry so I would it should be of reasonable quality.

Hi all again ... Now I am confused .... Last night the battery was dead... I went to pick up the Perentie this morning .... And it started first time ...... The weather was even colder this morning than last night when it didn't start ......... I am going to have the battery checked this morning .... Any ideas

Good idea - get the battery load tested. It does sound like something else - possibly the starter solenoid (did it click when you tried to start it last night). or it could be a loose wire or dodgy ignition switch. Start with the battery and terminals.

No ... Just dead ... No clicking ... Process of elimination I think [emoji12][emoji12]

Check (clean and tighten) the earthing points at the battery and engine.

Another question ... Whilst checking that everything is tight etc ... I noticed that the battery ... Not connected to anything yet ... Is making faint hissing and bubbling noises ... Very faint but I can hear it .... Also even tho I drY the cell caps battery fluid seems to be forced up and collects around each cap .... Is this normal ... I have had the battery checked ???

your battery is either over filled or most likely knackered and has dropped or more likely internally shorted cells.

chk your charging voltage
