View Full Version : Recommendations for D4 smash repairs in Sydney?

Brad

Morning all,

Unfortunately my D4 suffered its first non-trivial ding on the weekend after it picked a "right of way" argument with a metal pole and guide wire.

I now need to find a good smash repairer. Can anyone recommend a good one in Sydney?

I did find a thread from 2008 recommending Corben Smash Repairs in Hurstville but would appreciate hearing from anyone with more current experience.

Thanks!

Which area of Sydney are you in? I have had 2 loads of work done at CBS Lane Cove (Mowbray Rd) and they have been fantastic in their attitude and results, and quick as well. Since then 2 people I have recommended there have also been happy with the results on their BMW and VW Van. None of the extra things like loan/courtesy cars though.

Hi.

That list looks suspiciously like the one that came with my new D4 when I bought it. Are you implying that if one chooses not to use them that problems may be encountered with warranty repairs later? PM me if you don't want to publicly criticize someone.;)

No not criticizing anyone, the sore point is that I need to use one at the moment nothing else.

They claim that they are trained by JLR, not sure what that means or if it makes a difference. If they are repairing aluminum they should be using aluminum only tools and I hope that being recommended means that but don't know for sure. I wouldn't think it affects your warranty not to use them but don't know for sure. Maybe it means they get faster access to parts or that they garuantee to use original parts only, don't know.

Ended up going to Corbens based on this thread and feedback from other threads here. I will update with results once it's all finished.

Thanks all

Unfortunately Blair from Corbens Smash Repair has turned down the repair.

Corbens wanted ARB do the majority of the work, including assessing what damage (if any) was behind the bar. The only work they were prepared to do was replacement of a wheel flare and under bar trim.

Given the poor history this car has had with ARB I made it clear that all ARB should do is fit the new bar. At this point Blair asked me to take the work elsewhere.

So, there you go. Back to looking for a competent smash repairer *sigh*
