Hi everyone,

i have a parts enquiry, there is a guy selling a thermostat on gum tree and he has supplied a part number in the description; Land Rover Part, #596225.

i have checked my parts catalogue and this number dosent match either thermostats available for the series 2 with a 2 1/4 litre petrol motor.

the guy doesn't want to open them to send me photo of what they look like which is fair enough, so my question is could this be a thermostat for a series 3 or is it for the new style thermostat housing on the series 2/2a

the part number i have for the thermostat i need is 513465 as i have the older type housing.

cheer for you help everyone

Any auto shop should have a suitable one.
The one in my Series I came from Supercheap, the one in my C240 Isuzu motor also came from Supercheap.

I just downloaded the Tridon catalogue but for some reason all the application pages were missing.

As Land Rover would have outsourced the thermostat I thought it would have been a fairly 'standard' item.
My parts manual shows it as 513465, it looks like an older design which is much longer than the currently available thermostats but it's the flange where it mounts that would be the important bit.

It does look a different shape to the norm here Land Rover Thermostats, Thermostat Housing And More (http://www.roverparts.com/nxt/?keywords=thermostat)

Yeah my parts catalogue shows that number also Colin.

Is it hard to convert them to the newer style❓

Josh,

Without the housing it's difficult to comment. I still think a standard one might fit.

Just found this http://ollr.createaforum.com/technical-tips-questions/thermostat-in-1959-series-2-with-8-bolt-pump-and-one-piece-thermostat-housing/

If you can get past all the complaints, someone has given an answer. Might be worth joining the forum an asking the question without introducing yourself just for the fun of it.......
