I'm surprised there has been not been any interest this year. Unusually the ground was not sold out this year either. It was a pretty ordinary game but the important thing is that Queensland won.:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Good on yer Queensland, done it again.
Last year I was in Bankstown watching the first game. Thyday went over in the first try and I gave a little YES!. Trouble was I was in a pub FULL of Blues supporters. I was told to be careful if I wanted to not go to hospital!
That's life!. I left and went to my hotel room and watched the Maroons go on to win. (It may have been two years ago when I think about it)

Well , after you hear the endless blabber blabber blabber and expert opinions prior to the game , you expect something pretty good to happen.

Then after the game the endless blabber blabber blabber and expert opinions come forward again making you wonder if you watched the same game as them.

It's now all about the experts playing with their knobs on their smart tv , giving their opinions , instead of the game , which is given less air time than the commentators and experts.

Don't they let Wally Lewis have a microphone during the game so we get a more balanced commentary?
Gotta love Gus! When the Cockies were in front he was extolling their virtues but as soon as they got behind he was hanging the brown stuff on them. How fickle & what a loser. A shame really as he does know a lot about the game.

Maybe I'm jaded, but I was a bit disappointed. Obviously, a huge degree of skill and fitness involved and it's wrong to be an armchair critic, I know. Just thought Queensland dominated for much of the match and seemed to be playing smarter, particularly Cam Smith, while NSW seemed a bit aimless and relied on individual brilliance rather than strategy. Could be wrong of course, what do you think?

Actually, watching it, I was thinking that as the next game is to be in Melbourne the obvious next step would be to expand State of Origin to include Victoria and have either three or six games plus a final for the two leading teams. What do you think?

bob10
28th May 2015, 09:14 AM
State of Origin may have run its course. The passion was always fed by frustrated Qlders., sick of seeing their side defeated by fellow Qlders., playing in Sydney. I would like to see the focus return to international matches, who can forget the test matches between England, France , NZ, Wales ,Aus.. Add a Pacific Island team to the mix, play a test series at the end of a season , like the old days. Origin has taken top billing for some time now, I think it is time for International games to be the major focus. Yes, it will take time to bring some sides up to the standard required, but it would be better for Rugby League in the long run. Bob

Rugby has a much better format, better foresight for the future, better organised, and more teams.

Should I mention Super League, now that was an absolute shambles and all because they wanted to keep it all in house in the Sydney comp, basically QLD had no other option after super league fell through.

To expand the way Rugby Union has, they will need to adopt a similar plan, the thing is, all the countries that played League all those years ago, are now focusing more on Rugby Union and to be honest most of their League teams were full of Ex Rugby players anyway.

I think the behavour of the players is hurting the game the most, people are sick and tired of hearing about them and more importantly, how they get away with it, over and over and nothing done about, what so special about sportsman and women.

I have nothing against League, or Origin, infact two of the best games I have been too, were Origin and both at Lang Park, me and two mates braved the QLD crowd and I actually had fun(3 blues supporter in a sea of Maroon) but the people around us were great, try and do that now:(

The crowds have changed, people take it way too seriously, especially the Blues supporters, sad really, I used to look forward to going up to QLD for Origin, bloody great atmosphere, especially Lang Park.

I enjoy my Rugby now, go the Tahs;)

The right attitude helps. To be honest, the calibre of players in both origin sides is such it comes down to the 1% as to which side wins. NSW are still trying to find that 1%. The form of Hunt & Milford for the Broncos suggests NSW are in for a world of hurt , for some time yet. Anyway, I'm going to be watching some good old fashioned Country football Sunday, the Gayndah Gladiators are playing the Mundubbera Tigers for the State of Oranges title.

Spent some of the afternoon at St. Pauls school, helping prepare the School entrant for the Orange festival Grand Parade down Capper St. tomorrow. The whole town is up for it, I almost forgot how much I love country towns. Already been given a box of mandarins to take home. LG, Bob

I know Qld would have won based on the intensity and commitment they showed last night, but really, some of the Blues were woeful and not just in this game but the second where we scraped a win.

We need new blood and in form players not past reputation has beens and mates of Bozo.

Hopoate has not had a good game all year for Parramatta. His contribution in the three games a net loss in metres gained with the ball. He was nowhere to be seen in defense or attack

Gallen is too old and too slow. Heart as big as Phar lap but his best was two years ago.

If Mick Ennis is the best we can do as a dummy half then that will do me. If you want a pest get a pet mosquito. He is good with the mouth and cheap shot and that's about it. As for Farrah - see comments above re: Gallen. Time for a young guy like Mitch Rein to step up and take the game by the horns.

As for the halves I know it is an unfair comparison with Cronk and Thurston but those guys know each play and run with thought and commitment. Pearce and Hodkinson look like fish out of water. No structure, no putting payers in any set plays. There were occasions last night when our players were getting the ball standing still. It looked like a game of hot potato with no-one wanting to have a go.

Klemmer and Woods were OK but you can't base a game plan around two props.

New blood and give them a year to settle in.

Gagai's a legend in the making. Where's Ausfree?

I'm here somewhere, Ian. Haven't even watched the series, bored ****less with it. I like to watch a good evenly matched game not one where one side is continuously clobbered by the other. The Knights fall into that category also.

Congratulations to Queensland, they fielded their best team against the best that NSW could muster and won and that's what counts.:)

NSW has a lot of work to do to improve, not just talk the talk. You can't have players at that elite level making stupid mistakes.

Now is the time for the broom to bought out. 2 nil down dead rubber in Sydney, blood the next generation.

Get rid of Gallen, Farrah, Bird, Jennings all past the use by date and put in some new young keen and fit blokes that want to have a go.

That Jennings is useless in attack and defence. He can run fast but not much good if it is in the wrong direction and without the ball.

Congratulations to Qld. They saw our weaknesses and exploited them. Catch up is no fun and that is what NSW had to do all night.

Daly wants to retain the same team in some show of faith to the squad but he will get more brownie points for getting out the axe and setting the new direction.

Whilst he has the axe out he use it on that tosser Phil Gould as well.
Big Mal said it right when Gould was his usual tosser self and bagged the Aussie team. When Gould proves what he did as a player in Origin or internationals they will listen.

The best team won and I don't really care who it is , just like to see a good contest. Have learnt to watch it with the sound off so I don't need to listen to Gould dribble ****.

Ahh I feel better now.
Cheers Ean

NSW started well but Qld were just too professional at the decisive moments.
Great game though - very high standard from both sides. Either team could ably represent Australia.

I assume Qld won. If they always win, why does NSW bother playing?

Well done Queensland, you beat NSW and the ref for ten minutes.
Nine penalties and a send off? Sutton should be wearing a blue shirt. Despite Gerrard's best efforts, NSW still couldn't score.

If QLD hadnt given away so many penalties they might have gone close,,
12/3... no reason for QLD'ers to spark up,, we gave you 3 and you still lost.

:Rolling::Rolling::Rolling:

so you won more than the toss for the first time in a while......

if we don't let you guys win one every now and then you lose interest and you change the rules so you might win more often...

i thought the blues behavior after the game was very poor...

while they continue that mindset they'll never be winners imho

but it was a good spectacle (pardon the pun) and i thought the highlight of the night was one of the nsw commentators cringing at another penalty and alluding to the fact that even the grasshopper wasn't that bad...

i enjoyed the game and the spirit most of them played it in....

bring on 2017 .....

Finally some refs that don't let the cheatin QLDs stand offside all night, hold back players in defense and shoulder charge blokes in the head.

As for disrespecting Smith at the speeches. He got what he dishes out on the field with his constant niggle, elbows in the face in the tackles and yap yap to the ref like a spoilt shoolgirl.

Good on the Blues for stickin it up em.

If we can just get Daley to put the broom through the old boys club and get rid of Farrah and Jennings and put in some more young blood we will give them a towel up in 2017

Still playing the man instead of the ball, just like a lot of the blues

There will always be those that are considered bad boys on both sides...

I thought superman was a prime example till I saw a few things in the second game that changed my perception, hopefully he won't get jaded like some of the players pointed out above...
