Engine top stripped can I still use electrics?

Can I open my boot by connecting battery and open electronically?
Need to pull headliner out.

It should be OK as long as you don't short any wires out anywhere!

The only live wire with the ignition off will be the big brown wire to the alternator. Make sure that it is well isolated from danger, make sure the key isn't in the ignition, ie outside of the vehicle if the door locks suddenly operate, and reconnect the battery. Ignition on will also operate the fuel pump so don't turn it on at all unless the pump relay is removed.
