Well after the discussion on here about rattles i finally bit the bullet and took my D4 in a few weeks ago to get them replaced along with the panel underneath the windscreen that was starting to turn bad from the sun I'm guessing. So the D4 went to the dealer 420km return trip, and to replace the panel under the windscreen the have to take the black covers off the A pillars on the outside which i could see and have heard if not done correctly can be a pain to get on and off. SO the car spent 6 hours at the dealer getting that fixed all sorted picked it up and drove out for the 2 and a bit hour drive home, got through the traffic and onto the highway this loud loud humming noise i thought it was tyres at first then i figured ahh must be those black A pillar covers sure enough i was ropeable and cranky when i got home i couldn't turn around as it was already late and i had work the next morning.

So again rang the dealer that day told them they said bring it in anytime and we will fix it so 2 weeks later i took it back in and dropped it off again to get fixed another 420km return trip to warranty a warranty job, after i dropped the car off i went to grab a coffee and thought stuff it i was ****ed off i emailed Land Rover customer care at about 830am that morning (friday) went to pick the car up at 2pm and they said yep all sorted we've fixed it a technician will go for a quick drive to check its all good, sure enough i heard a faint noise for which apparently they had fixed it so we got back to the dealer and i said find me the bloke who said he did the job searched around for 10mins couldn't find him i said well get anyone and pull that cover off i wanna make sure its all fixed they pulled it off and low and behold you could still see the broken clips!!

So i was getting crankier by now i told them this is not on go and get a D4 off the showroom and pull it off it and put it on mine i dont have time to wait so they did that and he broke another clip just a tiny bit but superglued it and assured me it would be okay, again on the highway 20mins away from dealer bad vibrations again, so i called them and let them know same story bring it back we will have a look. Anyway Tuesday Land Rover customer care gets back to me and says sorry we will ring them and have a chat see what we can do i said dont waste your time they've had it twice and cant fix it!! So they then take another 5 days to respond and say sorry we cant give you much more help here is the dealer list maybe try another one, so i let that go and finally get worked up and give them a call today gave them a fair dressing down about how its unacceptable and i expected better and i just dont have the time to waste sitting around wasting time kms and fuel just for incompetent warranty work!!

So they said how about we tow it to another dealer 1200km return trip away and give you a courtesy car i said that sounds good, so tomorrow it will be on the truck and off to Townsville to be fixed and i picked up my rental Toyota Kluger which apparently has a $3500 excess but if i want it to be $0 i should pay the $320 for 2 weeks rental to reduce it and i said no i dont want the car so i rang Land Rover customer care again and suggested that its really a waste of my money when if the car didn't have the issue in the first place i wouldnt have to waste $320 on a rental car, so they rang me back and said they will foot that bill to!!! I must give it to them its taken a bit of messing around and annoyance for me but its good to see the assistance they've given me and even an apology for the slack response in the first place. Yes I'm a whinger but only after i get stuffed around by dealers who dont care and take pride in there work but I'm very happy that LR has come to the party and looked after me very happy with that although it took some pushing.

Gee Whiz Nat I reckon I would have just about taken someones head off!

It seems to me that it is the little things i.e. attention to detail that consistently beats folks these days? You know the 'near enough is close enough' approach that did not seem to happen a number of years back.

Mind you that could be a case of 'the older we get the better we were' syndrome!

I was getting pretty bloody cranky wasting a day return trip and time fuel kilometers in the car for no reason it just peeved me off!! Your so right they just oh yeah looks good sign it off have no intention of fixing anything glad I made them pull the cover off to prove they did nothing at all to fix it!!

Apologies left out the dash rattle part but they are still not fixed either after the 2 visits so Townsville is going to try them aswell!!

From another thread I got the impression that LR acknowledged this was a problem and had a "dash rattle repair kit" for this problem. Surely it would have provided instructions for the dealer workshops?
Can understand why you're ****ed off - particularly given the time, effort and distance involved.
You paid a premium price for a premium vehicle, and should be getting premium service. Alas, not the case any more. And LR seems not alone in this.

Hope it's sorted for you.

It took me 3 visits to the stealer to get the dash rattle fixed. The first two times they tried to fix it with some magic potion. The third time they replaced the top dash pad. No rattles since then.

Well Land Rover has assured me that Townsville has been told dont send the car back until the rattles are fixed and the A Pillar covers are fixed to which is good to know see how it goes though!!

I did see that on a post a while ago and they have used some tape and foam i can see in one area but its made a rattle in another area worse bloody pain so hopefully they fix it this time!!

Exactly right there and thats what i made known to them I've paid a lot of money for a premium brand i expect better and i expect to be looked after better than this instead of wasting time and kilometers for the sake of useless car dealers who cant fix the problem!!

They used to be okay in Mackay as they had 2 Land Rover technicians who were highly trained at LR in Dubai I'm lead to believe but apparently they got jack of being stuffed around by the dealer and left so the fella who was working on it a few weeks ago told me he is a ford tech and really hasn't worked on LR they've just shoved him in there till they find someone with LR experience!! So that probably doesn't help the matter.
