The yanks like spraying stuff, they used to spray DDT around the streets in the USA and kids would play in the foggy mist.

From what I've read there are 2 parts to agent orange, one is supposedly less toxic, the other highly.
They used agent orange in parts of oz killing people as well, and are still mixing the less volatile part to kill weeds in Qld .:o

Yup. I remember those days. Giant mozzy foggers on the back of F series pickups. You could hear them coming a couple blocks away. My mom used to holler at us to come in before they got too close... :D

Agent Orange is essentially a 50:50 mix of 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T. Both are strong herbicides and have Dioxins as an impurities. Dioxins are toxic and carcinogenic, and it is this impurity which is the main cause of "Agent Orange" health problems. Dioxins are very persistent and bioaccumulators. They are fat soluble but not water soluble. It could be argued that the environmental impact on natural and agricultural areas (of the herbicides) is as equally serious as the dioxin impacts as they are likely to be endured for many hundreds of years.
The British were the first to use 'Agent Orange' extensively for warfare when they used Trioxone in the Malayan Emergency. Trioxone is essentially identical to Agent Orange.
