I'm looking for a good preferably inexpensive mobile with a QWERTYkeyboard for my missus, She has an OLD buggered Nokia which desperately needsreplacing but isn't super comfortable with swipe touch screen keyboards.
Also would phones purchased from ebay overseas be compatible with our local networks with no hassles?
Happy with any input / recommendations if you have them.

Are you wanting a phone with a button type keyboard or simply a full qwerty touch keyboard displayed on the screen?
From a quick google I cant even find any button type QWERTY phones marketed in Aus apart from BlackBerry.
Can you recommend the missus learn how to use the swipe keyboards :wasntme:
I have a HTC Dream tucked away in my draw (first android phone). I actually quite liked the keyboard but I can type a lot quicker with the swipe type keyboards on modern phones.

The old Nokia 9000 comunicater would be the go,but i don't think it would work on todays network.
SWMBO had one for work for ages, simple to use and easy to type on,it was the leading phone in its day.

I have a Nokia Asha 302 full QWERTY keypad phone. It is cheap, has a poor camera but it works very well for phone/text/simple internet stuff.
Example below

I only got my first mobile phone last year. I went with a Sony zyperia, I like it. My main issue is why qwerty. My phone is qwerty but it was designed for type write machines in the late 1800's. It's initial use was to stop the mechanism jamming. There are several alternatives in typing design, ( speed, ease, layout etc) It is very interesting to google them. Anyway I'm using a qwerty right now. ( but I reckon I'd be rubbish on any phone - did I say this has taken two days to type)

Not sure about the modern crop of phones, but I have a Nokia E71 in pretty good nick that you can have for nought - I would guess it might need a battery. Won't do 4G, but does 3G and everything else, including WiFi, Bluetooth etc. Even has GPS!

The Xperia has various keyboard options in the settings. QWERTY is familiar for most people.

By way of clarification by QWERTY keyboard I do mean a separate keyboard with 'hard' keys rather than on the touchscreen.

theres a very specific one Im trying to find again.
its a combo keyboard battery tank wifi usb item and it came in a flip case with an elastic universal holder for the phone.
it had 2 little switches on it one switched the USB cable between being a USB/OTG keyboard and a USB charger for the phone and the other turned wifii/bluetooth on or off.
it wsnt hugely popular because of issues if you left the wifi/bluetooth on and tried to connect it as a keyboard and it was easy to knock the swithes. the battery life also never made the avertised time but you could through charge with it so if you left it plugged into the phone and then plugged in the usb charge cable for the keyboard it would charge the keyboard and the phone at the same time, frustratingly.. if you were using the keyboard as otg it would automatically turn over to charger and the supplied chargere didnt have enough to charge the phone and the keyboard at the same time if both had wifi or bluetooth on and running.
it was also easy to damage the usb cable for connecting it to the phone, thats what kille mine,
performance as a battery tank was moderate, it would give me about 30% extra on my old mio while watching a movie
