For those that haven't seen it, Top Gear tonight has the Defender driving up the dam wall. I remember much being written about this in the past but it's the first time I will have seen it.

Cheers

Would have missed it if you hadn't put this post up.

Enjoyed it - and recorded it. Looked VERY steep - no wonder Richard looked genuinely scared.

I watched thr L.R. bit.
Not sure about the red Defender in the studio bit, but I reckon the part about the L.R. being winched up the dam has been on before, because I remembered the bit about it not being able to go over the top of the dam?

They made it all the talking head, the special winch and a winch motor on a gimbal going where no normal vehicle engine would ever even run. Then the premise of the stunt was negated anyway.

Not one of the better TG segments, by a looooong shot.

I see this Thursday night is being promoted as Clarkson's last adventure or something. Must record it.

I think they're putting that on every episode this series.

I'm sick to death of Ch.9's coverage of Top Gear.
The relentless ads, and poor decisions of where to place said ads.
Love the show to death, have been watching it for years, but enough is enough.
They (Ch9) can't even play them in order! They just don't care, it's just another supposed hour of viewing in which they can smother us with nonsensical ideas.
Is it no wonder people are hiding behind VPN's to download excellent and up to date shows.

Anyway, rant over, carry on............;)

Agree completely. That's why I usually record the shows that interest me so I can skip through the ads. Ch. 9 ruined the audience which SBS had built up for Top Gear.
It's no wonder the revenue for private free to air TV keeps going down. People are sick of being treated like mugs and are going online instead, or subscribing to internet TV options such as Netflix.
The internet will soon replace free to air TV. Many TVs are already internet-connected. That's why we need a proper NBN with fibre optic and not the half-baked current scheme with old copper connections between nodes and properties.

Don't be so sure. I've been on NBN for two years now. I know of several problems that remain unresolved. I was only talking to a Telstra employee today about his NBN package. Telstra were unable to resolve his issue with the package he bought and refunded a years phone bill, after the complaint was elevated to the telecommunications ombudsman.
And you can tell when people are using Stan or Netflix. The internet slows noticeably. It was a real pain last weekend.
Ah, but that is a topic for another thread.

Did they have fibre to the home or a copper link from a node?
My workplace has all fibre and it doesn't slow when movies are screened.
