G'day All,
Don't get to post much these days as working during the week in my day job and at my farm most weekends. Anyone who has been around long enough would know about Smokey. Smokey started off standard 7 odd yrs ago and left me as a nicely modded beast. Smokey was my daily driver, tourer, off road adventurer and of late retired to farm duties as I had a new daily driver...Storm.
Alas whilst it was nice having a flash red car during the week.....I always looked forward to getting into Smokey, throwing in the kids and dogs, hooking up the trailer and heading to the farm on a Friday night. Long story short, it was clear that this long term wasn't practical plus I novated my daily driver and paid for Smokey after tax. I needed a dual cab ute.....good for daily driver, great for farm.
Now most people I talk to look at me like I am nuts..."its just a car" they say. Here though, I know others will know my sorrow. So last Friday I traded in Smokey and Storm. Letting go of Storm stung a bit...seeing Smokey drive off left me with tears in my eyes and my bottom lip trembling as I write this. I told my older children and they were upset....the word "memories" was used a lot.
I now have a brand new Colorado dual cab ute yet to be modded. Its great. Plenty of oomph....looks the part but it is a vehicle of the mind...not the heart. Its a tool to be used and it does it efficiently but the feeling is not there.
As many do...they sell their landy and give some woeful... Im outta here speech. **** that **** . Im still a landy man through and through and when the time is right, I will introduce a new mate into the family.
In finishing...I miss you Smokey, I hope you fare well with your new owner whoever that maybe.
Regards Stevo
