Yeah - bought one just recently. Never had a swag before, so nothing to compare it to. I'll only use it as back up to other stuff (tents and CT) and for short trips on my Jack. But the quality is very good. The long central pole is a little awkward to fit, but I'm sure would be fine once you get the hang of it.
It's bulky (as all doubles tend to be), so make sure you've got the space.
I reckon the overall value is hard to beat. Bought it along with a canopy for the car - delivered for around $425.

Is it right that Kings are actually made by Darche for 4WD Supercentre - or is my memory faulty?

I think they used to be made by Dache but are now made in china for 4wd supercentre.
There is a guy selling one on ebay that states it is on of the last made by Dache.
Reason I am after one is that the old swag I have is no longer water proof and the seams are falling apart, so needs replacing. I have just started a new job and can't afford one of the really good (expensive) ones, so was thinking this might do for a couple of years until I get back on my feet.

Have you used it in the rain yet?
I am concerned because some of the arb and roo systems swags leaked like a sieve and these are very similar. I just don't want to buy one and have the same problem that I have with my current swag.

With canvas products its smart, in case you didn't already know, to put it up, use a hose to thoroughly soak it and then let it dry so the gaps close up. Then spray it with water proofer.
Also, wipe bird poo off so it doesn't eat the canvas, then respray the cleaned area.

Once upon a time, when I was using swags, quality wasn't as important as size.
Swag had to be one bum wide and two bums high.........sigh...

The Kings / Roo Systems and a number of other brands are all made in the same factory in China. Basically, you get what you are paying for.
They're all OK - if you're looking for a cheap option that you only want to use for a couple of years or so before they fall apart.
Something like a Southern Cross Canvas like these Dome Swags - Southern Cross Canvas Products (http://www.southerncrosscanvas.com.au/swags/dome-swags/) made in Australia from Australian canvas are a much better quality option, but at about double the price of the Chinese made stuff.
Very bulky and heavy though - actually takes up more room on the roofrack than an Oztent RV5.
And the requirement to seal them properly before use as described by DiscoMick applies equally to the more expensive ones as to the cheap ones.

I've been converted to using a stretcher to get a swag off the ground, which makes swagging it much more comfortable and dry. So, if I bought a double swag like the Kings I'd also have to buy a double stretcher.
I see that is the arrangement Rooty prefers - a Darche dome and stretcher - so I'm not the only old fart who likes the idea!
At the moment I just put up the stretcher and swag under the vehicle awning. My swag is just an old Saul and it isn't a dome at all, just a bag. The Saul has excellent canvas and has survived 15 years of mistreatment and neglect, including the boys taking it camping on the beach during surfing trips. When it rains I just pull the end over my head and burrow to stay dry.
The wife also has a single stretcher and an identical Saul bag, as she likes to get some distance away from my snoring...
If I bought a dome I'd have to buy her her own dome, so that would be two dome swags to pay for = $.

I started out with a swag on the ground but soon found that was no good, so graduated to an "Oz tent king goanna stretcher" (800mm wide) and found this a little restrictive, so moved on to the Dache XL100 (1m wide) but I still roll to the centre and find it uncomfortable.
When I was up in the high country over easter I camped with some blokes that use the gym mats under the swags and said that it evens out the ground and keeps the cold out. So I thought that I might give this a go, but I want a decent swag as the one I am using is from the 4wd action mag and was given to me by a mate as it is not very good quality and not water proof.
Thanks for the advice on seasoning the swags, Mick. Being ex army I know how to season canvas so will be doing this when I eventually get one.
I have about a month to decide as I want one for the winter wombat. It was a blast last year :-)

I cant comment on the Kings Swags but I have an Oz Trail Mitchell king single dome swag, its not massive by im 185cm and weight just south of 100kgs and i fit in it fine. Cost me around the $180-200 mark, very good swag, good quality, east to set up. I would happily recommend it to anyone.

The Southern Cross swag is definitely a quality product but very pricey. Check out the Kulkyne Double Swag, they are much higher quality than the other swags mentioned and still reasonably priced: Double Swags (https://www.kulkyne.com.au/double-swags)

My opinion is the Kings I looked at used too much velcro rather than zips and I think they could be more likely to leak.

My son's single dome has velcro on the outer canvas at the high end, laying on top of the mesh, which is zipped. I borrowed it recently. It was OK, but I didn't like the use of velcro.

I have had a Kings double swag now for about 3 years and would have slept in it 50/60 times.
I found the mattress to be a bit thin but a bit of that "egg shell" foam sorted that out, Other than that the swag is still in pristine condition despite the rough handling and neglect I have subjected it to.
Plenty of ventilation for those hot nights and even in a downpour you don't get wet[thumbsupbig]

I really like my big daddy deluxe. I went the deluxe as it has the 70mm mattress. I tried the 50mm and found it to be too thin. The swag bags are pretty crappy material. I had to send my first swag back due to having holes in it from new. Warranty was good to deal with so no drama really.

Several relatives have these swags. From what I've seen, the quality is acceptable, but not outstanding. Personally, I think there are better alternatives from Darche and Anaconda for not much more money.
