One-upmanship, if NSW can ping caravan owners for having their number-plates mounted 30mm too high..........................

What's the police have to do with it?
Sounds like it was a speed camera car or fixed position one. Take it up with the state debt recovery office.
And it's quite obviously a mistake, if they uphold it then we can kick up a fuss :D

Police operate all camera detected offences in Queensland, it was a flash-for-cash.

I can see why you worry Judo, Muppett! A statement like that could worry anybody :D.
If a speed limit is 100kph, then logic dictates that if you exceed 99.999kph you are no longer under the limit and then you have, by definition, broken the law :)
Anyone who actually does 100kph or more in this situation (and I'm sure most of us have) is "breaking" the law ;).
A short course in bush lawyering and logic may be in order ? :D

The speed limit is the maximum allowable speed, not the speed to stay below.

Beat up now over.
It was a mistake.
They were testing the camera.

Speed limits are do not exceed, not do not travel at.
Bush lawyering and logic indeed.
Add to that, speed cameras have always operated on a system of tolerance, generally ranging from 2-5kmh over the speed limit (used to be 11kmh, supposedly) so even if he was doing your stated 'illegal' speed of 100kmh, then he'd still be within tolerance, thus it's a mistake.
I'd very much like to see a speed camera calibrated to .001 of a Km/h, we wouldn't have a budget deficit if that were the case ;) :D
Ian, didn't know that :)

I always have my radio on the truckies channel [ if not scanning]. They report all flash for cash spots to each other, Bob

If you go to other news sites from earlier in the week, Queensland man fined $151 for driving 100kph in 100kph zone - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-06-02/queensland-man-fined-151-for-driving-100kph-in-an-100kph-zone/6513868) you'll see that the QPS withdrew the fines galling them administrative errors.
You'll probably find the camera is downloaded at the end of the shift and the data analysed by software and fines automatically issued.
If the person had contacted the QPS about it the fine would likely have been deleted days earlier, instead the person decided to make an issue and posted it on faceplant.

Police are just tools for the government of the day.
Quotas no different to parking inspectors.
Dont blame the cops blame the local governments.
Thats how i view things anyway.

The best 'flash for cash' I saw was earlier this year north of Geraldton. There was a (broken down?) pantech truck parked diagonally on the side of the road which totally obscured the speed sign as you were coming into town. Yep, you guessed it, there was a camera literally just around the corner. I wonder how many people they nabbed! I'm all for road safety but they would have been stupid not to have seen the truck, or just didn't give a damn.

I was returning from Melbourne airport at 11.30 pm last week , the speed limit was 60ks . The road was almost empty of traffic , there was 3 men working on the inside lane barrier only . The restrictions covered quite a few ks either side of the work being done . I'm all for road safety , but I thought this was over the top . Signs said cameras , in operation !!.. Jim

Correct. However, I have heard much worse. Also, the further you get from the large population centres, the less of the language you hear, in my experience. Still colourful, with some classic curses, but if I hear where the flash for cash is, I don't really care. Bob
