I know nowt about petrols.
Maybe PM Shirley, who's quite experienced with LR V8s and bought a L322 v8 a while ago.

I know they go great, sound awesome and use more fuel than the diesel. :D
On the FFRR site their seem to be a few more issues with them than the diesel - like the cooling and fuel systems, but they seem to be an ok motor if well maintained.

I beleive the Nikasel issue was solved by BMW in the previous engine.
IIRC we have the M62 and the problem was in the
M60.....

From a UK site a while ago, the main problem was with a plastic cooling pipe at the rear of the engine which should be replaced often, or it splits and ****es all the coolant out.
I think the Nikasil problem was overcome, as it was due to rich mixtures washing oil off the cylinder walls, and also was more prevalent in the UK and USA.
