Lately I have been having trouble with Google. Whenever I try to do a search or click a link to YouTube it comes up with 'page unavailable'. Does anybody else have this problem? Or have I upset Google some how and this is their payback? I can't even Google for the answers.

I've been using chrome for the last few years but lately it seems to hang more than work properly.
In the end I deleted it and am now back to IE.;)

What do you use as your web browser? Mozilla Firefox is good and you can get it for free. Been using it for a very long time coz it has less problems

Yeah, I use Firefox on the home PC, and Safari on the ipad - which used to be fine, but is now a bit of a PITA, so will start looking for something else when it ****es me off enough.
The reason I hang so much **** on IE is that I have to use that on my work computer, and it is just sooooo bad. Crashes, locks up, takes ages to load anything.

We had a problem with one of our computers loading only ads every time you did a search.
Turns out all these little pesky viruses had downloaded at the same time that the antivirus was being upgraded because it had to be uninstalled before re-installing.
To fix it I uninstalled all the plugins and add-ons and changed the options so that anything wanting to use adobe was set to 'always ask'.
Luckily there is lots of info online about how to fix things.

And in that time, how many times have you been forced to upgrade your OS???

Hi Pedro,
I don't know exactly what it was, my security system picked it up immediately.
I closed it for a day and when I opened it up the next day, the alert was there again(for that day and time).
So that's why I'm back to IE.
cheers

Just install Linux for free, people. I get none of these problems and my ex-Windows machine using Chrome and Chromium and sometime FF is about 10 Years old.
FIFY :)
Another option. :)
I know Linux isn't for everyone.
However, I suspect that the vast majority of the people who have never heard of it are exactly the same people who wouldn't even notice the change if someone secretly installed Linux on their computer overnight. :)

Very true, but only until the time arrives for you to buy a whole new piece of the Apple pie, because Apples new OS won't support your old device!
Been there done that.
Used to be the biggest Apple fan in the world.
Not no more. They can go and get well and truly ............d.

As cuppabillytea said - his machine is 11 years old - not a bad run. My ipad is 4 years old and still going strong. SWMBO has a Macbook that is nearly 10 years old. that has outlasted 3 other laptops that have come and gone, so I know which I'd prefer.

Un-checking hardware acceleration will fix a lot of problems.

You're right. I wouldn't know if a big orange rat with two ferocious teeth was up my proverbial. Just as I don't know how I came to be quoting your words. BUT. It's not a bad idea for those who can't bring themselves to buy an Apple.
By the way my Apple hasn't cost me a razoo and no one has forced me to do anything.

Xubuntu is brilliant and much use friendly than Ubuntu.
It works like a dream in old computers where even XP is slow.
I use it in my second LT where XP was slow.
