Hi all. Had a look but couldnt find any thread related. Got a mate with a 2011 d4 2.7. Its had an intermitent prob in that it goes into limp mode, done it twice under warrenty and each time LR have said its the fuel pump. Out of warranty and its done it again, only this time LR says its a wiring harness prob to the pump/s.
He is wondering if its been the harness all along and now its not gonna cost LR to fix it properly they are having a lend of him? Just thought Id put the question out here.

If there is a record of an issue occurring during the warranty period and the fixes performed then were not satisfactory, I'd say it is pretty clear cut that it is not a matter for charging to the customer?

Besides the dealer would charge LRA for warranty work and I doubt they would have a motive to upset the client. That's not to say LRA won't reject the claim at their end. Has he been told he is going to have to pay for it?

I'm sure there are other more expert members here who can give better information.

I would also have LR check for pin holes in the fuel lines.
I had the above problem which was only found after the fuel pump & various other bits were replaced.
$5000.00 repair for a $200.00 problem.
I was not impressed & the D no longer goes anywhere near a LR Stealer.

Thanks guys, yes apparently LR dealer has said its owner pays, which has Kieth a bit upset. Given it appears to be the same fault resurfacing. I told him I would ask on here about it, mainly to see if it was a common fault that others may have suffered.
Apart from that the D4 has behaved well, its their 3rd disco in 10 yrs, all of which they have been happy with, this is far and away the fav though, with ride and drivability way ahead :)
Anyway thanks for the replies.

Had similar issue recently where vehicle would slow down, reduce all systems. fault code reader said variable (lower and higher) pressure to some injectors, then vehicle would run again sweetly if car was locked with remote and then re-opened and start again.
Seems that fuel pumps that are failing can do this sometimes, then run OK again for many months/weeks, then fail again. I just replaced the pump.
They can be sourced for about $1000 new, check about internet (one Perth diesel firm had them) or otherwise from UK about $950 delivered.
There is a recent post up on getting new D3 2.7 fuel pump.

Just an update on this, it was the fuel pump it seems. After much tooing and froing,a dealership change with the disco being taken to Brissy to the next closest dealer :O , 4 weeks! Later the d4 is home again. And they ended up paying for the privlidge. Needless to say mate is not impressed! Anyway its going again so alls good.
