Series / 110 hybrid?

I have a yearning to build a play toy 110 with v8, coils etc, maybe a bit Lara Croft Tomb raider like :D:D

I have a lead on a local 110 Wagon that has been lightly rolled so the body is toast. It looks like the top of the bulkhead may be beyond reasonable repair but chassis and drivetrain are good. I also have a lead on a local series 3 that has a good body on it but appears to have a non-legal v8 transplant so is really only good for the body only. It has defender front panels so long bonnet, forward grill etc.

My question is, will a S3 bulkhead bolt onto a 110 chassis? I presume I could use the 110 seat box and floor to get the transmission hump roughly right and then use the S3 rear tub? I presume the S3 bulkhead would require some surgery to get the tunnel area to work? I'm not too worried about using the S3 windscreen, the 110 windscreen frame is bent beyond repair.

I have a D1 with a manual & v8 as a donor engine and drivetrain.

very easily done, on a 110 chassis. just like a meccano set.

In the mid 1980's I put a series body on a RR chassis (shoretened it to 90") - easy as
just after the build

This is a very popular concept and has been around the block a few times. The main problem is that the chassis dictates the "year of manufacture" and as such all the ADRs that the vehicle must comply with.

Getting a Series body, interior, etc. to comply would be quite a task in today's engineering climate.

BUT, there are some around.

I cut the RRC chassis aft of its coil mounts, and grafted on the rear of the Series2 chassis , The 88" serial number is on the left side spring hanger . (you see its still got the rear spring hangers ) so you see its registered as a 1964 Series 2 :)
